DESCRIPTION
The Human Resources Business Partner will serve as an on-site HR partner for the Webster, NY facility, providing hands-on support to employees and leaders across the employee lifecycle. This role combines day-to-day HR operations with business partnership responsibilities, including full ownership of weekly payroll, employee relations and investigations, performance management, onboarding, compliance, and employee engagement. The HR Business Partner will also support recruiting efforts for the Webster site and partner closely with HR leadership and department leaders to ensure consistent application of Invio policies, programs, and practices. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $105,000, based on applicable skills and experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Owns and processes weekly payroll for the Webster facility, including reviewing timecards, validating hours, resolving discrepancies, processing payroll changes, and ensuring payroll is accurate and completed on time.
• Serves as one of the HR points of contact for Webster employees and managers, providing guidance and support on employee relations, performance, attendance, policy interpretation, workplace concerns, and other HR matters.
• Independently leads employee relations investigations, including conducting interviews, gathering and documenting facts, evaluating findings, and partnering with HR leadership and management on appropriate recommendations and follow-up actions.
• Coaches and advises managers on performance management, corrective action, documentation, employee communications, and consistent application of company policies and practices.
• Supports recruiting for Webster-based positions, including partnering with hiring managers, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, participating in interviews, supporting candidate communication, and assisting with offer and pre-employment activities.
• Manages the pre-employment and onboarding process for Webster employees, including background checks, drug screening, new hire paperwork, orientation, and benefits onboarding.
• Maintains accurate employee data and records within HRIS and other HR systems and ensures employee changes are processed timely and accurately.
• Supports administration of compensation, benefits, leave, performance management, recognition, engagement, training, and other HR programs.
• Partners with managers and HR leadership on organizational changes, workforce planning, employee development, retention, and other people-related initiatives.
• Reviews, tracks, and supports compliance with required training, including safety, anti-harassment, and other company or regulatory training requirements.
• Assists with employee engagement initiatives, site communications, recognition programs, and company events.
• Supports employee separations, including termination meetings, exit processes, final payroll coordination, and related documentation.
• Assists with workers' compensation administration and other site-related HR and safety processes as needed.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and supports consistent application of company policies and practices.
• Maintains manager and employee confidence by handling sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Tracks and prepares HR metrics and reports, including payroll, attendance, turnover, recruiting, and other workforce data as needed.
• Participates in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives and may support broader company-wide HR activities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be a proactive, hands-on HR professional who is comfortable balancing operational responsibilities with employee and manager support. This individual must demonstrate sound judgment, strong follow-through, and the ability to independently manage sensitive employee relations matters while knowing when to engage HR leadership.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Strong working knowledge of payroll processes, timekeeping, and payroll-related controls; experience owning or independently processing payroll strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience handling employee relations matters and conducting workplace investigations.
• Working knowledge of federal and New York employment laws and regulations.
• Ability to build credibility and effective working relationships with employees and leaders at all levels.
• Strong interpersonal, coaching, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
• Experience supporting recruiting and interviewing activities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/payroll systems (Paycor is a plus); ability to quickly learn Invio's systems and processes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred. Typically 4-7 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including hands-on employee relations and payroll responsibilities. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant HR experience may be considered.
