Description Job Summary:The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as the primary HR partner to the Laboratory organization, providing strategic and hands-on support to Laboratory leadership and employees across employee relations, workforce planning, performance management, compensation, compliance, and talent development.
This role also has primary oversight of the company's payroll and benefits functions and supervises the Payroll & Benefits Administrator. The HRBP ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll and benefits administration while partnering with leadership and external vendors to optimize programs and processes.
Job Responsibilities: - Oversee all payroll processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing.
- Supervise and provide direction to the Payroll & Benefits Administrator.
- Review and approve payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, deductions, overtime, and leave.
- Oversee administration of medical, dental, vision, disability, EAP, PTO, and other employee benefit programs.
- Manage relationships with payroll, benefits, insurance, and other HR vendors.
- Lead annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes.
- Ensure accurate benefits eligibility, enrollment, deductions, and vendor reconciliations.
- Monitor payroll and benefits compliance and coordinate required audits, filings, and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll, benefits, HRIS, and employee service processes.
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and company needs.
- Implement and manage performance management systems to drive high performance and employee engagement.
- Support succession planning strategies to identify and develop future leaders within the organization.
- Ensure compensation and benefits packages are aligned with industry standards and comply with legal regulations.
- Provide guidance and support to managers in handling employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Act as a point of contact for employees to address concerns or issues related to workplace conflicts, grievances, or policy violations.
- Promote a positive organizational culture by fostering open communication and resolving conflicts fairly.
- Leverage HR technology (HRIS, ATS, AI integration etc.) to streamline HR processes and improve efficiency.
- Regularly report on key HR metrics (e.g., turnover, overtime, employee satisfaction, etc.) and provide data-driven insights to senior leadership.
- Supervise and respond to all employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Manage the off-boarding employment process, including holding exit interviews and tracking feedback to analyze any turnover trends.
- Manage the maintenance of the HR and Payroll system related to new hire enrollment, employee changes, payroll and benefits.
- Manage the organization and filing of all required employee records.
- Facilitate HR processes and companywide programs/policies to ensure an ethical, fair and consistent approach.
- Create and develop employee engagement initiatives to support sustaining positive employee relations and positive culture building.
- Additional tasks may be assigned at any time by the supervisor.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience supporting managers and employees in a business partner capacity.
- Strong hands-on experience with payroll and benefits administration, including payroll processing/oversight, benefits enrollment, renewals, vendor management, and compliance.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading HR team members; prior experience managing payroll and/or benefits staff preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including wage and hour, leave, benefits, and payroll requirements.
- Experience working with an HRIS/payroll system and demonstrated ability to manage HR data, reporting, and system processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR, payroll, benefits, and workforce data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee, compensation, payroll, and benefits information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Experience supporting employees in a laboratory, healthcare, scientific, manufacturing, or other highly regulated environment is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
