Summary of Position: We are seeking an experienced HPE Implementation Engineer to perform onsite deployment, installation, and validation of HPE Private Cloud and VMware infrastructure solutions. The engineer will be responsible for the physical implementation of HPE compute, storage, and networking hardware while working closely with remote VMware, Storage, and Network Engineers to complete the overall deployment. This is a hands-on implementation role requiring experience with enterprise datacenter hardware, rack integration, cabling, firmware updates, hardware diagnostics, and deployment best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Hardware Installation & Deployment
• Install HPE ProLiant Gen11 and Gen12 servers into customer racks.
• Install HPE Alletra Storage MP systems and expansion shelves.
• Install HPE Aruba switches.
• Perform rack & stack activities following customer and HPE standards.
• Connect power to existing PDUs.
• Install and secure rails, mounting kits, and hardware components.
• Complete structured cable installation and cable management.
• Label equipment and cabling according to project documentation.
Infrastructure Preparation
• Validate rack space, power, cooling, and physical infrastructure readiness.
• Verify implementation prerequisites before deployment.
• Confirm hardware inventory against the Bill of Materials.
• Report any missing or damaged equipment.
Hardware Configuration
• Configure HPE iLO management interfaces.
• Update server BIOS, firmware, and Intelligent Provisioning.
• Configure system BIOS according to HPE best practices.
• Configure storage controllers during initial deployment.
• Perform initial storage hardware setup.
Physical Connectivity
• Connect Ethernet, management, and storage network cabling.
• Connect SAN/storage connectivity as required.
• Verify switch connectivity and physical link status.
• Coordinate with remote engineering teams during logical configuration.
Validation & Testing
• Verify server and storage hardware health.
• Perform hardware diagnostics.
• Validate storage connectivity.
• Verify cluster hardware readiness.
• Perform post-installation health checks.
• Support HA, DRS, storage, and cluster validation activities.
• Assist with customer acceptance testing.
Documentation
• Record serial numbers and installed assets.
• Update installation documentation.
• Document cable layouts and rack elevations where required.
• Capture implementation photographs when requested.
• Provide deployment status updates to the Project Manager.
Skills/Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in enterprise datacenter implementation, including:
o Installing enterprise servers, storage, and networking equipment.
o Performing rack & stack deployments.
o Structured cabling and cable management.
o Performing firmware and BIOS upgrades.
o Working in production datacenter environments.
o Supporting infrastructure deployment projects.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with HPE Private Cloud Business Edition (PCBE)
• Experience with HPE GreenLake
• Experience with HPE Alletra Storage
• Experience with VMware vSphere
• HPE ASE, ATP, or equivalent certifications
• VMware VCP certification (preferred)
• Aruba certification (preferred)
