Full Job Description
THE POSITION

The Calgary Flames are seeking a talented and versatile individual to join our growing Analytics team within Hockey Operations. In this role you will help to design, build and maintain software that supports users throughout the organization and impacts areas such as coaching, player evaluation, scouting, and player development. You will also contribute to research initiatives with the objective of increasing our knowledge of the game of hockey.

The salary range for this position is $80K-$90K

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Maintenance and optimization of our proprietary hockey operations platform
• Design and develop new user-friendly tools in our interface, with an equally high standard for accuracy and presentation
• Contribute to research initiatives supporting player and team performance analysis, scouting, and player development
• Assist in the design and implementation of data pipelines to integrate and leverage new data sources.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal individual will have the following background:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in hockey analytics and/or professional software development
• Demonstrated experience designing and building web applications or other software solutions
• Strong analytical and statistical skills, with experience in modelling and other research-oriented tasks
• High proficiency in Python or at least one other general-purpose programming language
• Familiarity with comprehensive web application frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django, Pyramid, or similar)
• Experience with at least one JavaScript library or framework (e.g., jQuery, React, Vue.js, or similar), along with foundational front-end technologies (HTML/CSS)
• Experience working in Linux environments
• Solid understanding of database development and data architecture principles, with strong working knowledge of SQL
• Strong hockey knowledge, with a demonstrated ability to apply analytical thinking to the sport
