Hematopathologist, Director, Division of Hematopathology
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA), is seeking a board-certified (or board-eligible) anatomic and/or clinical pathologist with excellent diagnostic skills to join our faculty at University Hospital and the new UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital. The successful candidate will serve as Director of the Division of Hematopathology.
In-house ancillary studies include immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, molecular diagnostics, cytogenetics, and electron microscopy. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and at least 5 years of experience in diagnostic hematopathology. The Department of Pathology supports a robust residency program and fellowships in hematopathology, surgical pathology, cytopathology, transfusion medicine, and clinical informatics. The Director will oversee the clinical, educational, and academic missions of the Division of Hematopathology. This role offers the opportunity to lead a talented group of faculty and staff in a thriving academic medical center. Opportunities for both clinical and translational research are available through departmental collaborations, the NCI-designated Mays Cancer Center, and the Greehey Children's Cancer Research Center (GCCRI).
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and be certified (or eligible) by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology. Academic rank and appointment will be commensurate with experience, scholarly achievements, and professional accomplishments. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a record of scholarly publications are required. The successful candidate must also possess or be eligible to obtain an active Texas medical license.
