Full Job Description
Upstate Hematology Oncology is seeking a compassionate and motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality care to adult patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions while working alongside experienced specialists in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Previous experience in oncology preferred.

Position Details

  • Full-time position with flexible scheduling options (including 3- or 4-day work week)
  • Primarily outpatient practice
  • Monday-Friday schedule
  • No evening or weekend office hours, providers participate in shared rotating call (minimal)
  • Collaborative physician and APP team

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient evaluations, histories, and physical examinations
  • Manage patients with hematologic disorders and cancer diagnoses
  • Monitor patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other treatments
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies
  • Provide symptom management and supportive care


  • License and active registration as a physician assistant or registered nurse/nurse practitioner in New York State.
    • Physician Assistant:
      • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in physician assistant studies and successful completion of physician assistant training program approved by the NYS Department of Education or accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, or a program that is determined by the Department to be the substantial equivalent of a licensure qualifying or accredited program.
      • Attainment of passing grade on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
      • Current certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
      • Current CPR certification.
    • Nurse Practitioner:
      • Successful completion of and graduation from a nurse practitioner education program acceptable to NYSED.
      • Current certification as a nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
      • Successful completion of pharmacology coursework acceptable to NYSED.
      • Current CPR certification.
