The Opportunity

Blueberry is redefining how families access pediatric care, and we're looking for an experienced Health Payer Account Executive to drive our next phase of growth across Medicaid and commercial health plans.

This is a pure hunter role focused on winning new payer relationships. Reporting directly to the Head of Growth, you will own the full sales cycle, from identifying and penetrating target plans through negotiating and closing complex, value-based partnerships.

Blueberry has established meaningful traction in the payer market, but we are still building. We want someone who is excited by the opportunity to help shape how we win, not simply inherit a mature territory and established pipeline. If you've successfully sold innovative healthcare solutions to health plans and want the opportunity to build relationships, influence strategy, and close meaningful deals, this role may be for you.

What You'll Own
  • Own a $3.5M annual ARR bookings quota focused on net-new Medicaid and commercial health plan business.
  • Build and manage a high-quality pipeline through existing relationships, direct prospecting, strategic account development, referrals, industry events, and marketing-generated opportunities.
  • Identify and develop relationships with the executives and functional leaders who influence payer decisions, including CEOs, CMOs, CFOs, Medicaid presidents, population health, care management, network, finance, and procurement leaders.
  • Develop account strategies to penetrate complex payer organizations and create multiple paths to a deal.
  • Own opportunities from initial outreach through business case development, executive alignment, procurement, contracting, and close.
  • Lead value-based and risk-aligned commercial discussions in partnership with Blueberry's leadership, analytics, finance, and legal teams.
  • Translate Blueberry's clinical outcomes, member experience, and utilization impact into compelling financial and strategic value propositions for health plans.
  • Build tailored presentations, proposals, and business cases for individual plans and executive stakeholders.
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management and accurate forecasting in HubSpot.
  • Represent Blueberry at relevant payer and healthcare industry events.
  • Bring market intelligence back to Blueberry and help shape our payer go-to-market strategy, positioning, pricing, and offering.

What You'll Bring
  • 7+ years of enterprise healthcare sales experience, including significant experience selling directly to health plans.
  • A demonstrated record of exceeding quota and closing large, complex, net-new payer deals.
  • Existing relationships with senior Medicaid and/or commercial health plan executives and a demonstrated ability to convert relationships into meaningful sales opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of how health plans evaluate, budget for, procure, contract for, and implement new healthcare solutions.
  • Experience navigating complex payer organizations and building support across clinical, financial, operational, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience selling value-based, risk-aligned, or outcomes-based healthcare solutions strongly preferred.
  • Ability to build and communicate compelling business cases based on clinical outcomes, utilization, healthcare costs, and ROI.
  • Strong prospecting instincts and a demonstrated ability to create pipeline rather than depend primarily on inbound demand.
  • Discipline around account strategy, follow-up, CRM management, and forecasting.
  • A builder mentality. You are resourceful, persistent, comfortable with ambiguity, and willing to do the hands-on work required to win.

Experience with Medicaid, digital health, pediatric care, or solutions addressing avoidable healthcare utilization is highly valued.

What We Offer
  • The opportunity to play a meaningful role in scaling Blueberry's payer business and shaping our go-to-market strategy.
  • $175,000 base salary with $350,000 OTE and uncapped commissions.
  • Meaningful equity ownership so you participate directly in the value you help create.
  • Comprehensive benefits, remote flexibility, and travel as needed.

The Reality of the Role

Blueberry has significant momentum in the payer market, but we are still an early-stage company competing for the attention of large, sophisticated health plans. This is not a role for someone who wants to inherit a mature territory, a large support organization, or a calendar filled with qualified meetings.

You will own your business end to end. You should expect to generate a meaningful portion of your own pipeline by leveraging relationships, opening doors, developing account strategies, prospecting directly, and finding creative ways into difficult organizations.

You will have direct access to and support from Blueberry's leadership, clinical, analytics, marketing, implementation, and legal teams. But you will remain accountable for creating opportunities and moving them forward.

You need to be equally comfortable developing a strategy for penetrating a national payer and picking up the phone to create the first conversation. You will build your own presentations when necessary, follow up relentlessly, manage your own opportunities in HubSpot, and do the hands-on work required to get deals across the finish line.

If your success depends on a BDR team consistently putting qualified meetings on your calendar, this is probably not the right role. If you enjoy opening doors yourself, navigating complicated organizations, developing executive relationships, and turning those relationships into significant revenue, you may thrive here.

Why Now

Blueberry has moved beyond proving that health plans are interested in our model. We are now focused on scaling.

This hire will join at a point where Blueberry has established payer traction, demonstrated outcomes, and an increasingly compelling value-based proposition, while remaining early enough that an exceptional salesperson can materially influence how we approach the market and directly impact the company's trajectory.
