Full Job Description
Scope of Position:

The main purpose of PERI's Head of Procurement Market Unit - North America (HPMUNA) position is to support the US and Canadian team's purchasing activities to secure efficiency, effectiveness and compliance. The HPMUNA does this by developing and implementing procurement strategies to optimize costs and ensure quality. Leveraging PERI's resources, HPMUNA works with various regional departments (e.g., operations, sales, finance) to align procurement with company goals. In addition, it is the responsibility of the HPMUNA position to lead the regional procurement team, driving a high-performance culture.

What you'll do in a typical day:

  • Actively contribute value to cross-functional strategic initiatives such as ERP rollouts, process harmonization programs, drive initiatives, process implementation, and Supply Quality Management frameworks.
  • Accountable for the overall procurement performance in your region including direct contribution to improvements in TCO, EBIT, working capital, and supply security.
  • Negotiates regional demands according to process.
  • Deliver functional leadership of the procurement teams in the subsidiaries - guiding, aligning, and supporting them across a matrix setup to ensure strategic and operational objectives are met.
  • Ensure a high data-quality in SAP / ERP and existing procurement systems for an efficient ordering process.
  • Create KPI transparency, translate global targets into regional objectives, and monitor target achievement.
  • Complete RFQ process including its implementation in the form of quantity contracts, info records or purchase orders (RFQ)
  • Continuous improvement of local supplier performance by tracking KPI`s and initiating of actions.
  • Drive global Procurement requirements (LKSG, CBAM, Risk-Mgmt., etc.) through the local organization.
  • Support of the Category Manager/Technical Project Procurement Manager in Identification, qualification & managing of "major suppliers" according to defined processes and preparing local figures.


What you'll need to be successful:

  • 5+ years in professional experience in in strategic procurement, preferably in a global or international context.
  • Experienced in SAP MM, eProcurement and ERP-system tools
  • Ability to travel, as necessary
  • Strategic Thinker: Anticipates future scenarios and plans to achieve long term goals by focusing on setting objectives, developing plans, and considering the broader impact of decisions
  • Negotiation and Persuasion: Identifies and addresses the social, emotional, economic, and practical barriers that prevent people from complying, listening to understand the other party's perspective as well as articulating your own needs concisely, thoughtful planning and preparation before talks, thinking critically, adapt strategies, patience, persistence, and techniques.
  • Leadership Excellence: Proven track record of exceptional leadership demonstrated through communication, coaching/developing, delegation, relationship building, ownership/responsibility, team results, decision making, and emotional intelligence
  • Fluent in German or other languages skills are an advantage.
  • Analytical Skills: Accurately gathers data, analyzes information, uncovers hidden insights, and reaches sound decisions based on informed judgment
  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughly reviews work for errors, follows instructions, proofreads, and maintains accurate records.
