Role OverviewPylon is building a software-driven post-closing platform that makes funded loans complete, controlled, and ready for downstream settlement without relying on a large manual cleanup organization.
As Head of Post-Closing, you will bring scaled post-close expertise into that system. You will own the controls, exception model, quality standards, and domain knowledge that help Product and Engineering automate document tracking, deficiency management, reconciliation, and delivery workflows.
Responsibilities- Own post-closing domain expertise from funding through downstream readiness.
- Define the controls and checks that determine whether a funded loan is complete and ready for the next stage.
- Translate deficiency patterns, collateral requirements, document rules, and post-close judgment into product requirements and operating rules.
- Build human-review queues, SLAs, and escalation paths for true exceptions.
- Establish KPIs for deficiencies, defects, cure time, manual touches, completeness, and automated workflow coverage.
- Create feedback loops with Closing, Underwriting, Processing, Account Management, Product, and Engineering to eliminate recurring defects upstream.
- Help automate document tracking, reconciliation, deficiency detection, and downstream delivery workflows.
- Build the expert operations and QA layer required as volume grows.
Qualifications- Significant mortgage post-closing leadership experience at a scaled lender.
- Strong preference for wholesale mortgage experience.
- Experience handling substantial monthly funded-loan volume.
- Deep understanding of post-close document, deficiency, collateral, quality, and delivery workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to build controls, reduce rework, and identify root causes.
- Comfortable making domain expertise explicit enough for technical teams to encode.
What success looks likePylon can scale funded-loan volume substantially without accumulating document debt or building a proportionally larger cleanup team. Recurring deficiencies become product and process improvements, and human attention is concentrated on genuinely exceptional cases.
