Full Job Description
Position PurposeThe Head of BIM provides strategic and operational leadership for TAIT's Building Information Modeling
competency, ensuring BIM supports high-quality design, coordination, fabrication, and delivery across the business.

Reporting to the Digital Asset Management Director, this role leads the BIM team, including BIM Managers and BIM Coordinators, and establishes the standards, systems, governance, and capability required for consistent project delivery.

The role partners with design, engineering, technology, and project-delivery leaders to develop and execute TAIT's BIM strategy, translate business needs into practical roadmaps, and improve the lifecycle value of digital project information.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Digital Asset Management Director to define, implement, and continuously improve TAIT's enterprise BIM strategy, roadmap, governance model, and investment priorities.
  • Establish and maintain BIM standards, protocols, templates, libraries, model requirements, and quality-assurance processes that support consistent delivery across projects and locations.
  • Own the BIM operating model, including resource planning, team structure, workload balancing, performance management, recruitment, and succession planning.
  • Provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership for BIM execution, coordination, clash management, model review, information exchange, and issue-resolution practices.
  • Work with design, engineering, manufacturing, project management, and technology teams to align BIM workflows with delivery processes, data standards, and digital asset-management objectives.
  • Guide the selection, configuration, adoption, and lifecycle management of BIM platforms and connected tools, including common data environments and collaboration workflows.
  • Create and maintain BIM implementation plans, playbooks, training materials, and change-management activities to drive adoption and consistent use of agreed practices.
  • Define and monitor BIM performance measures, including model quality, coordination outcomes, adoption, rework reduction, and delivery efficiency; communicate progress and risks to leadership.
  • Build productive relationships with internal stakeholders, project partners, clients, and technology vendors to identify opportunities, resolve escalations, and advance BIM capability.
  • Stay current with BIM standards, technology, automation, interoperability, and industry practice; identify practical innovations that improve TAIT delivery and information-management maturity.
  • Perform assigned duties according to company policies, safety requirements, information-security expectations, and professional standards.

People Management / Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop the BIM team, including BIM Managers and BIM Coordinators; set clear objectives, build capability, and promote an inclusive, accountable, high-performing culture.

Position RequirementsQualifications/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related discipline; equivalent education and professional experience will be considered.

Experience - Knowledge and Skills:
  • 10+ years of progressive BIM, VDC, design technology, architecture, engineering, or construction experience, including 5+ years leading BIM teams or programs.
  • Experience leading BIM platform, common data environment, and interoperability initiatives in a complex project-delivery organization.
  • Demonstrated experience building and executing BIM strategies, standards, governance, implementation roadmaps, and change-management programs across multiple projects or locations.
  • Expert knowledge of BIM authoring, coordination, and review workflows; proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud or equivalent common data environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing BIM Managers, BIM Coordinators, and cross-functional project teams; able to set direction, develop talent, and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of model-based delivery, information requirements, interoperability, clash detection, QA/QC, and the relationship between design data, fabrication, and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of ISO 19650, BIM execution planning, classification and data standards, and digital asset-management principles is preferred.
