We are looking for an experienced Hardware Development Manager to help design AWS servers based on different CPU architecture. The ideal candidate for this role will be an innovative, hands-on leader seasoned in building and leading the team that owns the product from concept to production and end of life for high performance servers.
As the manager of this team, you will lead a team of highly motivated hardware engineers that thrive on solving challenging problems with innovative solutions. The team couple's hardware design with close collaboration with our firmware, software teams, mechanical/reliability/compliance and safety to solve real world data center infrastructure problems. You will lead a team responsible for the hardware design for AWS servers from concept design to product validation and operational support in the fleet. You will lead a team of senior engineers( HDE/SysDe, TPM, SDE, Manufacturing) that will build customized hardware solutions for AWS that incorporate the newest CPU, memory, and interconnect technologies. You will establish strategic vision and drive execution in defining and delivering new products and services. This is a fast-paced position where you will be challenged to think on your feet. You'll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. AWS Engineers are shaping the way people use computers and designing the future of cloud.
Key job responsibilities
Define server architectures based on workload demand and customer requirements, translating them into detailed designs and component specifications that enable high-performance products.
Work with interdisciplinary teams of component, firmware, test, qualification, and integration engineers to deliver cohesive designs.
Drive design reviews with ODM/JDM partners covering schematic, layout, BOM, and manufacturing DFx (Design for Test, Design for Manufacturing).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- Experience in engineering team management
- Experience in new hardware product development
- Experience in DFx (cost, test, manufacturing)
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- 5+ years of hardware design and development experience for server, compute, or large-scale infrastructure platforms
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of AWS or cloud technologies
- Experience managing teams of 8+ engineers
- Experience developing products for large volume production
- Experience with thermal/mechanical design for high-power-density compute platforms (liquid cooling, air cooling, or hybrid)
- Track record of defining engineering standards and design best practices adopted across teams or partner organizations
- Experience owning fleet quality metrics and driving design improvements based on operational failure data
- 10+ years of server development experience, ODM/JDM experience etc.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
