  • Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC), or working toward designation (strong asset).
  • Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification (Parts 1 & 2).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, reporting, tracking).

Responsibilities

  • Support managers/supervisors in communicating prevention initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including incident reporting.
  • Maintain and improve health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Act as a contact point for safety inspections and audits.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analysis.
  • Track and report on safety KPIs and trends to inform risk reduction strategies.
  • Support management in investigations of OHS events.
  • Champion a safety-first culture through visible engagement.

Your Role

As the H&S Coordinator, you'll take on real challenges that bring out your full potential. Your scope includes:
  • Support managers/supervisors in maintaining, managing and ensuring that company prevention initiatives are communicated and understood.
  • Ensure Compliance with all regulatory requirements including incident reporting and recordkeeping
  • Maintain and continuously improve health & safety policies, procedures and programs.
  • Act as a key point of contact for safety inspections and audits, supporting preparation and follow-up.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analysis across areas of responsibility.
  • Track, analyze and report on safety KPI's, safety trends, and best practices to identify opportunities and drive proactive risk reduction strategies
  • Support plant management team with investigation and analysis of OHS events ensuring consistency in risk analysis, root cause identification and appropriate corrective actions
  • Work with local HR to ensure H&S training program for employees and managers is completed on schedule, while adhering to Cascades' H&S requirements.
  • Champion a people-first, safety-first culture through visible floor presence and engagement.


What you bring

You're a natural fit for the H&S Coordinator role if you have:
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, HR or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Health & Safety role within manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
  • Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC safety regulations and compliance requirements
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC), or working toward designation (strong asset)
  • Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification (Parts 1 & 2)
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, reporting, tracking)
  • Experience with systems such as SAP, Power BI, or safety tracking tools (e.g., Conformit) is an asset
  • Valid driver's license with the ability and willingness to travel between sites
