The Position
The Grants Manager is part of our Development and Community Engagement (DevCo) team, a talented, creative and driven group of fundraisers focused on furthering the agency’s mission and values. The Grants Manager will work with the Director of Grants to generate private grant revenue from foundation and corporate donors and maintain and increase public contract revenue and support. Together, the Grants Team is responsible for raising a minimum of $6million annually. Individuals interested in this position should be experienced in developing and submitting grant proposals and be well-versed in homelessness and issues surrounding the industry.
The Grants Manager serves as grant writer and project manager for private and public grant proposals and reports. Reporting to the Director of Grants, the Grants Manager helps ensure annual revenue goals for private restricted and unrestricted grants and manages the proposal process for public funding proposals (e.g. city, county, state, and federal funds). The Grants Manager will contribute to other grant-related projects and administrative duties as needed. The Grants Manager works within a team-oriented and fast-paced work environment, with strength in planning to adhere to external funding and internal deadlines. This position will be significant to the growth of the department as it involves supporting the fundraising efforts and messaging of the organization.
What You'll Do
- Develop and write funding proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant reports, both independently and in collaboration with Director of Grants. Assemble, acquire, and update support documents for grant proposals and reports. Submit proposals and reports in a timely manner to ensure deadlines are met.
- Collaborate closely with Programs and other teams to align proposals and reports with on-the-ground efforts, funding needs, and programmatic priorities for the agency.
- Work closely with Data and Quality Assurance and Finance Departments to ensure contract compliance and that grant submissions and reports accurately align with funder objectives and proposed outcomes.
- Maintain systems for proposal submission calendar, grant reporting calendar, and other internal systems as needed. Support day-to-day operations of Grants Department in collaboration with Director of Grants.
- Work with Development Operations to record grant relationships and history and maintain the integrity of the Salesforce database.
- Lead project management for development and submission of public proposals, including the review of lengthy NOFOs, coordination of cross-departmental materials and appendices, and attention to detail in submission according to meticulous guidelines.
- Perform prospect research to identify new funding sources, including private foundations, organizations, and corporations, and prepare prospecting profiles.
- Grow relationships with and support the Director of Grants in making presentations to potential institutional supporters as needed.
- Occasionally participate in the development and implementation of agency events, communication materials, and donor correspondence as needed by DevCo colleagues.
- Additional tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor.

- Able to represent and speak about LA Family Housing to external stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; knowledge of Salesforce a plus
- An understanding of homeless services and affordable housing
Other
- Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA standards
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Able to pass post offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances
- Able to work a 9/80 work schedule
- Able to work a hybrid schedule
Experience
- Position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in grant writing, fundraising, or partnership development, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of social services, issues of homelessness, and the population served by LAFH required.
