Full Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Systems Engineer to join our Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) department. In this role, you will bridge the gap between high-level mission requirements and detailed GNC subsystem design. You will be responsible for the architectural definition, requirements derivation, integration, and verification of complex GNC systems for a broad range of aerospace vehicles, including subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic missiles, and loitering munitions.

The ideal candidate thrives on solving complex, multidisciplinary problems and possesses a strong blend of systems thinking, control theory fundamentals, and hands-on simulation experience. Position will require strong communication skills and a natural inclination towards working across disciplines, articulating technical concepts into clear requirements and documentation.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Requirements Engineering: Derive, flow down, and manage sub-system and component-level requirements for GNC hardware (sensors, actuators, flight computers) and software algorithms from mission objectives
  • System Architecture & Integration: Define GNC system architecture, data interfaces, and functional boundaries that ensure seamless integration between GNC software, flight software, and hardware components
  • Verification & Validation (V&V): Define verification plans, author test procedures, and lead V&V campaigns utilizing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) testing environments
  • Modeling & Simulation: Assist in analyzing results from high-fidelity 6-DOF simulation environments to evaluate system performance and conduct trade studies
  • Risk & Interface Management: Assist in formulating and tracking risk mitigation plans for GNC subsystems, including maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs), test plans, procedures, and subsystem performance specification documentation
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the technical liaison between the GNC department and adjacent teams, including Aerodynamics, Structural/Mechanical Design, Integration & Test, Electrical Engineering, and Program Management

Requirements:
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering (or similar STEM field) and at least 5 years of experience in systems engineering, specifically applied to GNC, robotics, or autonomous systems (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Proficiency with requirements management tools and MBSE methodologies
  • Demonstrated understanding of rigid-body dynamics, kinematics, and electrical system communication and power, alongside familiarity with GNC hardware (e.g., IMUs, GPS, seekers, electro-mechanical actuators) and knowledge of classical/modern control theory.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling and data analysis, experience with C/C++ for flight software implementation is a plus
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, or ARP4754A as well as hands-on experience with HWIL/SIL testing and test bench is a plus

Corvid benefits include:
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan via our generous 401(k) Matching
  • Medical Insurance via Blue Cross - including a PPO and High-Deductible offering (with company HSA contribution)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of industry experience (not tenure)
  • Career Development and Continuing Education opportunities
  • Company provided life, long-term and short-term disability insurance
  • Incentive opportunities to reward strong performance and corporate growth
  • Attractive corporate facilities that include Lake Norman access, out-door activities (including grills) and more
