Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Digital Solutions departments as an GIS & Utility Systems Integration Engineer. As a GIS & Utility Systems Integration Engineer you are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the integration between Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Outage Management Systems (OMS) to support utility operations. This role focuses on data readiness, network modeling and cross-system alignment, ensuring accurate representation of electric utility assets and network behavior to support outage analysis, restoration workflows, and operational reliability.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in Esri Utility Network data models, electric network connectivity, and utility systems integration practices across OMS, ADMS and related operational platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a deep understanding of GIS data models supporting electric utility distribution systems. Network connectivity, asset modeling, and topology configurations.
  • Experience supporting migrations from geometric network or legacy GIS models to Utility Network.
  • Ensure GIS data supports OMS requirements including network tracing, switching, and outage prediction.
  • Maintain data quality, validation rules, and topology integrity.
  • Assess GIS model readiness for downstream operational systems including OMS and ADMS
  • Define modeling standards and best practices to support scalable integration
  • Design and advise on integrations between GIS and OMS platforms.
  • Ensure accurate network model representation for outage analysis and restoration operations.
  • Support data synchronization, data mapping, and transformation processes between systems.
  • Develop and maintain interface specifications, data flows, and integration processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration and data consistency issues.
  • Support model alignment between GIS connectivity and OMS network models.
  • Identify integration risks and data gaps early in project lifecycles and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Configure and support Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, Utility Network services, and related components.
  • Collaborate with OMS vendors and internal teams on data requirements and model alignment.
  • Support testing activities including system integration testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Work with utility engineering, operations, outage management, and IT teams to gather requirements.
  • Translate business and operational needs into GIS and OMS model designs.
  • Provide technical documentation and model standards.
  • Support production deployments and operational support activities.
  • Support presales, discovery, and early-stage solutioning efforts by articulating GIS and integration dependencies to internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate complex technical topics to project managers, directors and executive audiences
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Engineering, Computer Science, Geography, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of GIS experience supporting utility environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise and Utility Network configuration.
  • Experience with ArcFM for electric utility GIS solutions.
  • Experience modeling electric utility distribution networks.
  • Experience integrating GIS with OMS or other operational systems.
  • Strong understanding of electric distribution network connectivity, network topology and tracing concepts, data modeling and system integration principles
  • Experience with Python, SQL, or scripting for data management and automation.
  • Experience with web services, APIs, and data exchange methods.
  • Strong expertise in Esri Utility Network architecture and configuration, utility electric network modeling expertise, GIS data governance and data quality management, systems integration and interface design

  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro SDK or automation tools.
  • Experience working with system integrators or utility consulting environments.
  • Understanding of utility operations, switching, and restoration processes.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or advisory support across multiple projects or teams.
