Geotechnical Project Manager

Geotechnical Service

Calgary, ON

Pinchin is seeking a Geotechnical Project Manager to join our Geotechnical Services team in Calgary, AB. The new role reports to the Principal Geotechnical Engineer.

Role Overview:

As a Geotechnical Project Manager, you will lead and support a variety of geotechnical projects from planning through execution, providing technical expertise, project coordination, and client support. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will perform engineering assessments, develop practical solutions for complex site conditions, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business growth while ensuring high-quality service delivery and technical excellence.

Your Impact:

  • Perform Geotechnical engineering evaluations (e.g., soil and bedrock engineering design, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, excavation, dewatering and shoring.)
  • Schedule assessments and meetings with clients/contractors
  • Assign work to field staff as appropriate depending on workloads and in conjunction with the other Senior Managers
  • Prepare contract documents, proposals, and reports
  • Provide clients with advice on appropriate regulations and guidelines
  • Mentor, train and supervise junior field staff
  • Review written work of technical staff and provide feedback and guidance when needed
  • Meet with clients to determine project requirements
  • Business development and marketing to new and existing clients


What You'll Bring to Pinchin

  • University degree in Geotechnical, Civil or Geological Engineering or related degree and experience
  • 3+ years' experience in a geotechnical engineering role
  • A Professional Engineering Designation or an Engineer in Training eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta within the next year.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as geotechnical engineering software (slope stability, seepage, finite element programs, etc.)
  • Able to work closely with our project teams across the company where geotechnical support may be of assistance, such as Environmental Due Diligence and Remediation and Building Sciences
  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, clients and managers
  • Excellent technical writing skills for preparing geotechnical engineering reports and letters for clientele
  • Valid driver's license insurance & personal vehicle is required (work-related travel expenses will be compensated)
