Tesla Laboratories is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support Design Technical Support (DTS) services for the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Northwest (NAVFAC NW), Planning Design and Construction Directorate, Design Division (PDC4). This position supports the existing NAVFAC workforce and provides increased capability for Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects and associated efforts undertaken by NAVFAC Northwest customers within the NAVFAC Northwest Area of Responsibility (Puget Sound area). Perform geotechnical engineering tasks, including: ? Office and in-field consultation/monitoring of design and construction projects involving building vertical and lateral force resisting systems, retaining structures, utility structures, or waterfront structures (piers, dry docks, wharves, etc.) using DoD UFC or industry codes and standards, including the International Building Code (IBC) and ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures. ? Design of structural elements using common building materials (concrete, steel, and masonry). In addition, the Geotechnical Engineer will: ? Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, create/manage schedules, and track/brief budget execution in conformance with project and customer requirements. ? Create project technical dashboard reports via Microsoft software (Power BI, Project, Excel, etc.). ? Facilitate the minimization of project delays by providing technical reviews and recommendations within predetermined timeframes. ? Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and federal laws/regulations, and provide sound technical recommendations both verbally and in writing. ? Apply innovative technical principles, practices, and theories to the resolution of technical issues. ? Coordinate with the Government client, NAVFAC team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies. ? Coordinate and facilitate meetings, make recommendations based on project requirements, coordinate workflow processes, schedule/coordinate Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs), and effectively communicate findings to project personnel; provide written minutes for all meetings. ? Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes (design-build and design-bid-build), project deliverables, submittals, and cost proposals from contractors to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements. ? Provide technical support for review of the commissioning plan, design and construction submittals, and field inspections. ? Provide technical support for construction field activities. ? Provide a summary of accomplishments during weekly meetings and in a prepared monthly status report. ? Provide weekly reports documenting technical engineering support and quality assurance on each assigned project, including status, issues, costs, schedule, and findings/observations/recommendations/data collected. ? Prepare reports, Requests for Proposals, and/or scopes of work in the required format, including applicable attachments, and participate in briefings/conferences. ? Prepare and deliver briefs supported by necessary project documentation to project team members, base personnel, and senior management. ? Ensure timely submission of submittals, reviews, and recommendations. Education: Graduate of an accredited Engineering college curriculum (4-year degree minimum). ? Experience: Minimum of 6 years of Design Management and/or Design experience performing the tasks described above. ? It is highly desirable, but not required, to hold a current U.S. Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in the geotechnical/civil discipline. ? Demonstrated knowledge of broad-based engineering principles and versed in the discipline being hired. ? Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles, and practices applicable to multi-disciplined engineering project design.
