Overview

As a Civil Engineering Principal for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Pittsburgh, PA office, you will collaborate with our senior management and office leadership to grow and develop the Geotechnical Engineering Practice. By developing and strengthening our relationships with prospective and existing clients, you will play a key leadership role in the continued growth of the Geotechnical Engineering Practice on both a local and regional basis while mentoring and developing technical staff across the team. Through your experience, you will guide clients and project teams through projects from concept to construction, ensuring technical excellence while helping develop the next generation of engineers and project managers. You will be directly responsible for developing and reviewing proposals and project budgets, leading and mentoring engineers and project managers, supporting business development initiatives, and performing final quality control and assurance reviews.

 

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for the coordination, management, and supervision of geotechnical subsurface investigations related to civil engineering design (e.g., building foundations, slope stability, retaining walls, ground improvements, and pavements) and waste/landfill projects.
  • You will coordinate project staff to monitor subsurface drilling, obtain soil and rock samples, prepare boring logs, develop laboratory testing programs, interpret laboratory data, complete geotechnical analyses, and prepare detailed geotechnical reports.  Projects will primarily be for commercial, retail, institutional, energy, industrial, and solid/municipal waste clients.
  • You will guide and mentor engineers and project managers through multi-faceted civil engineering projects while supporting business development initiatives and client relationship growth.
  • As part of the management team, you will play an active role in recruiting, mentoring, and developing staff engineers and field technicians, helping establish career development goals, sharing technical expertise, and fostering future leaders within the organization. Concurrently, our senior management team will partner with you to support your continued growth as a leader through personalized professional development, mentorship, and opportunities to expand your project management, business development, and leadership skills
