Our 70,000 sq. ft. Manassas, Virginia facility is part of Catalent’s Pharma & Consumer Health division and specializes in the development, commercialization, manufacturing, and packaging of dietary supplements. The site manufactures soft chews and lozenges for Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements (VMS) applications, supported by differentiated uncooked soft-chew technology, formulation expertise, and flexible packaging capabilities. The facility is FDA registered, SQF certified, QAI certified organic, and NSF GMP Certified to NSF/ANSI 455-2 for dietary supplements.
As General Manager, you will serve as the senior leader for the Manassas site, with responsibility for translating business strategy into strong operational, financial, customer, and people results. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role overseeing a regulated manufacturing operation and partnering closely across Quality, Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain, Product Development, and Commercial teams. The GM will be responsible for strengthening site performance and culture, developing the leadership team, ensuring reliable supply for customers, and positioning the site for continued growth in the consumer health and wellness market.
The Role:
- Lead the Manassas site and execute the site strategy and business plan, with accountability for operational, financial, customer, quality, safety, and people performance.
- Partner with the Site Leadership Team and functional leaders to develop and execute annual operating plans, budgets, revenue objectives, and priorities aligned with business goals.
- Ensure the site has the capacity, capabilities, resources, and operating discipline required to meet customer demand and deliver reliable supply.
- Provide visible, hands-on leadership across the site, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, employee engagement, collaboration, and continuous improvement while developing current and future leaders.
- Serve as the senior representative of the Manassas site with customers and internal stakeholders, partnering closely with Commercial, Quality, Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain, and Product Development.
- Monitor site performance against key operational and financial objectives, identify risks and opportunities, and take timely action to improve performance and allocate resources effectively.
- Champion Operational Excellence and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, service, productivity, cost, and overall site performance.
- Support business development and commercialization activities by representing site capabilities in customer discussions, evaluating new opportunities, and developing business cases and investment recommendations that support growth.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, environmental, health, and safety requirements
The Candidate:
- The GM must be on-site 5 days a week.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing or operations within a regulated environment; experience in nutraceuticals, VMS, consumer health, food, pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing is preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading a manufacturing site, plant, operations function, or multi-functional organization with accountability for safety, quality, service, cost, people, and operational performance.
- Strong financial acumen with experience translating business objectives into operating plans; exposure to P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning is preferred.
- Proven people leadership skills, including building engaged teams, developing leaders, driving accountability, and leading through change.
- Hands-on, visible leadership style with the ability to work effectively across a matrixed organization and partner with functions including Quality, HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Product Development, and Commercial.
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills, with the ability to represent the site effectively with customers and senior leadership.
- Experience in CDMO/CMO or contract manufacturing is preferred but not required. Prior GM experience is also preferred but not required; strong site, plant, or operations leaders with the appropriate breadth of experience will be considered.
