Full Job Description
The General Manager is responsible for leading a mid-sized site or multiple smaller sites with full accountability for operational performance, people leadership, customer delivery, financial results, and execution of enterprise strategy. This role serves as the senior site leader, translating business priorities into clear operating plans, building organizational capability, and ensuring disciplined execution across safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and employee engagement. The GM_1 partners closely with functional leaders to align resources, remove barriers, strengthen operating systems, and create a high-performance culture that supports scalable growth and consistent customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Business & Operational Leadership
• Own overall site performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, inventory, employee engagement, and customer commitments.
• Lead daily, weekly, and monthly operating rhythms to ensure visibility to performance, timely issue escalation, and disciplined follow-through on corrective actions.
• Ensure standardization, consistency, and effective use of operating systems, management routines, and performance review processes across assigned site(s).
• Drive operational discipline, execution excellence, and accountability through clear priorities, measurable goals, and consistent leader standard work.
• Identify operational risks, capacity constraints, resource gaps, and performance trends; develop proactive mitigation plans to protect customer delivery and business results.

Strategy Execution
• Translate enterprise strategy into actionable site-level plans, priorities, KPIs, and communication rhythms that align leaders and employees around business goals.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, yield, quality systems, flow, labor productivity, and overall operating performance.
• Support scaling efforts through process discipline, operational readiness, workforce planning, technology adoption, and effective change management.
• Partner with enterprise leaders to prioritize investments, capabilities, and resources required to meet current and future business needs.
• Communicate strategy, performance expectations, and progress in a clear, consistent way that builds alignment and accountability across the site.

People & Culture Leadership
• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing cross-functional leadership team capable of delivering results through others.
• Set clear expectations for performance, behavior, communication, and accountability; ensure leaders consistently model company values and leadership standards.
• Strengthen employee engagement, retention, and workforce capability through effective communication, development planning, succession planning, and talent review practices.
• Ensure a strong safety-first, quality-driven culture where employees understand expectations, risks are addressed promptly, and accountability is visible at all levels.
• Lead through change with transparency, resilience, and practical problem solving, helping teams adapt while maintaining performance and customer focus.

Cross-Functional Integration
• Partner with commercial, engineering, quality, finance, IT, HR, supply chain, and other functional leaders to ensure priorities, resources, timelines, and execution plans are aligned.
• Resolve cross-functional challenges that impact delivery, quality, cost, employee effectiveness, or customer commitments.
• Ensure alignment between site operations and enterprise priorities by proactively communicating risks, tradeoffs, opportunities, and resource needs.
• Facilitate effective decision-making across functions by clarifying ownership, escalating barriers appropriately, and ensuring actions are tracked to completion.

Financial Accountability
• Manage site budget, cost controls, labor planning, capital needs, margin improvement initiatives, and financial performance against plan.
• Monitor key performance metrics, financial trends, and operating variances; ensure timely root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Partner with finance to develop forecasts, evaluate business cases, manage tradeoffs, and improve profitability while maintaining safety, quality, and customer commitments.
• Promote cost-conscious decision-making and operational efficiency without compromising compliance, employee safety, product quality, or long-term capability.

Education:
• Bachelor's Degree required; degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• Advanced degree, Lean/Six Sigma certification, or equivalent operational excellence training preferred.

Experience
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, engineering, or a relevant regulated industry.
• Demonstrated success leading a mid-sized site or multiple smaller locations with accountability for performance, people leadership, and financial outcomes.
• Strong track record of improving operational performance through continuous improvement, process discipline, cost management, productivity improvement, and quality systems.
• Experience leading cross-functional, matrixed teams and driving accountability across functions that may not directly report to the role.
• Experience operating in customer-facing environments where delivery, responsiveness, quality, and relationship management are critical to business success.
• Experience developing leaders, building succession strength, and improving organizational capability during periods of growth, complexity, or change.

Capabilities:
• Strong operational leadership and execution discipline, including the ability to translate priorities into clear plans, metrics, ownership, and results.
• Working knowledge of regulated environments, quality systems, and compliance expectations such as FDA, ISO, GMP, or comparable standards.
• Financial acumen in budgeting, forecasting, cost management, margin improvement, capital planning, and performance metrics.
• Ability to lead through change, scale operations, build organizational capability, and drive continuous improvement across people, process, systems, and culture.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to align senior leaders, functional partners, managers, and frontline employees.
