Description and RequirementsJob Description
Role: Google Data Architect
Who You'll Work With:
Slalom's Google Center of Excellence (COE) is focused on injecting intelligence into products, engineering systems that support learning and insight and creating innovative data products. Within Data Engineering we help customers build world-class products through effective use of:
- Batch and real-time data engineering, including scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using modern cloud-native architectures.
- Modern data platforms built on Google Cloud, including data lakes, lakehouses, and enterprise data warehouses.
- Streaming data platforms for real-time ingestion, event-driven architectures, and analytics.
- Data integration and orchestration using modern workflow and pipeline automation tools.
- Data platform modernization and migration, helping clients transition legacy data environments to Google Cloud.
- AI-ready data foundations, ensuring high-quality, governed, and scalable data to support advanced analytics and generative AI use cases.
What You'll Do:
Slalom Google Data and AI is comprised of passionate, flexible technologists who love to practice and hone their craft. As tools evolve and technologies emerge, we work to stay in front of innovations in data platform development and delivery.
As a Data Architect in Slalom's Google COE, you will work in collaborative teams with minimal oversight and direction to design and deliver enterprise-scale data platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will architect solutions using BigQuery, Dataplex, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Vertex AI, Looker, Cloud Composer, and other Google Cloud services. You will help clients migrate and modernize data estates, implement real-time and batch data platforms, enable governed analytics, and accelerate AI-ready data foundations.
You will typically be responsible for understanding the client's current environment, technical challenges, business outcomes, and future-state data strategy. Using that knowledge, your architecture expertise, Google Cloud experience, and ability to facilitate working design sessions with Slalom and client technical teams, you will lead the analysis, architecture, design, and delivery of the client's next generation Google Cloud Data Platform Solution.
You will leverage your communication skills to clearly describe the trade-offs, benefits, risks, and implementation path of your solution design and drive the combined Slalom and client team to consensus. You are experienced at breaking down complex architecture into deliverable workstreams and will be responsible for quality completion of development items, ensuring they support the technical solution you designed.
As time allows, you will participate in pre-sales activities including shaping Google Cloud data modernization approaches, defining technical solution options, supporting estimates and delivery plans, and partnering with business development teams to address prospect challenges.
*You will work in a hybrid environment, with expectation to be in-person with Slalom teams and clients as needed.
*You also must be within commutable distance to one of the Slalom's listed office locations.
What You'll Bring:
As a Data Architect in Slalom's Google COE, you will bring broad architecture experience, deep expertise in Google Cloud data engineering technologies, a curious mindset to client engagements, and a hunger for fearless experimentation in new and interesting ways to meet our clients' most pressing data challenges. You are a self-starter, effective in breaking down large problems into smaller ones, and regularly share what you learn with others within your projects and in the broader Slalom community.
You are passionate about Google Cloud and modern data architecture and continuously expand your skills through hands-on delivery, certifications, and collaboration across the Google COE. You enjoy solving complex data challenges, mentoring engineers, and building scalable, secure, cloud-native platforms.
