Full Job Description
Role Scope
Negotiate behind-the-meter PPAs, tolling agreements, and heat rate options with generation owners and developers for multi-hundred-megawatt data center campuses.
Negotiate gas supply, transport, and basis arrangements that lock in fuel price and deliverability for each behind-the-meter site before the build starts.
Diligence prospective behind-the-meter gas sites for pipeline access, fuel constraints, air permitting, and power delivery risk before we commit to a lease.
Evaluate generation equipment (for example turbines and reciprocating engines) on heat rate, availability, lead time, emissions, and delivered cost, and turn it into a clear recommendation for leadership.
Quarterback development, engineering, legal, and finance from site selection through executed supply contracts to energization, and flag cost and schedule exposure before it reaches leadership.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've personally negotiated behind-the-meter PPAs, tolls, or heat rate options where the economics had to hold through project finance and final deal terms.
You've negotiated gas supply agreements and managed fixed-price, index, and basis exposure, and you know which fuel constraints break a plant's dispatch.
You've diligenced a gas-fired site from pipeline access and fuel deliverability through air permits and power delivery, and you know what kills a site early.
You've compared generation technologies on heat rate, spark-spread economics, and reliability, and your analysis drove an equipment decision.
You've built the techno-economic models behind these deals and defended the sensitivities to lenders, investors, or executives.
You quarterback across engineering, legal, finance, and operations, and you write clearly enough to distill a technical question into a decision and a next step for a CEO.
Bonus: Multi-market power experience (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, WECC). Plant dispatch and fuel optimization (generator, asset manager, or trading desk). Large-load and utility interconnection. Pipeline capacity and midstream contracting.
