POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment is seeking an individual to support faculty development in teaching and learning. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Pedagogical Support
• Assist with planning, supporting, and running faculty development and wellness programs (orientations, workshops, learning communities, etc.) using proven, evidence-based inclusive teaching methods
• Facilitate collaboration on teaching initiatives across different departments
• Meet one-on-one with faculty and observe classrooms to help design and test new teaching strategies and measure their impact on student learning. Provides other consultative support as requested
• Work with the director, deans, chairs, and department faculty to determine where colleges need teaching support
• Support running student focus groups when departments request them
• Create teaching materials and assessment tools that work for departments of any size or subject
• Support faculty leaders in assessment, grants, career development, and lecturer programs.
• Stay current on research about effective teaching, learning, and scholarship to share with faculty. Participate in research activities related to teaching and learning practices
• Manage the faculty newsletter, coordinate with campus partners, distribute weekly/semester updates, and support preparation of other communications.
Supportive Leadership
• Provides support with planning, organizing, and running summer/winter faculty development institutes, documents faculty deliverables and outcomes
• Connect faculty with campus and outside professional development opportunities (NCBI, BCTD, PCEI, Employee Affinity Groups, Faculty Development Council, Academic Senate) and participate as a leader and/or trainer in those efforts
• Support and assist the TLA Analyst, Faculty Fellows, student assistants, and others with all TLA initiatives
Administrative Support
• Assist the TLA Analyst with faculty payment processes as the backup person
• Assist with administrative documents like continuity plans, procedures, presentations, proposals, and reports
• Maintain a searchable archive of newsletters and other evidence-based teaching and learning resources.
Technology
• Keep learning and applying new tech skills through training such as ChatGPT, AI Tools, Faculty Innovation Success Hub (FISH), TLA website, Pathify, Otter EAB Navigate, assessment tools, and other emerging technologies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an appropriate, education-related discipline/field
• Five years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level
• Evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level
• Demonstrated interest in undergraduate education and professional development in pedagogy in higher education
• Certification or significant evidence of professional development and leadership in one or more recognized pedagogical approaches relevant to undergraduate education, such as Reading Apprenticeship, Culturally Responsive Teaching, Trauma-Informed Pedagogy, Mindfulness and Meditation, etc.
• Experience mentoring faculty on teaching and learning
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collegial, and consultative team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative and transparent manner
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to collaborate with other units/departments/programs
• Strong written and oral communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to acquire and use existing and emerging technologies, skills, and tools
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working with a teaching and learning center
• Experience in planning and leading faculty professional development and learning communities.
• Experience working effectively with faculty across disciplines and other college programs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong intercultural communication skills and understanding of diversity and inclusion issues in higher education
• Event and long-range planning, marketing, and continuous improvement skills
• Evidence of collaboration with campus partners, community members, and members of local and national organizations.

COMPENSATION:
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $6,288 to $7,658* monthly ($75,456 to $91,896 annually)

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, and CSU systemwide pay for comparable jobs.
