Full Stack Engineer 4 (ATM)
In this role, you will sit at the intersection of software and hardware, working across the entire ATM software stack—including Windows OS, vendor XFS, security software, and data streaming—to build, enhance, and support critical financial technology infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, automate, and deploy end-to-end full-stack software solutions across our ATM and kiosk ecosystem.
- Lead the overall delivery of resilient software components in close collaboration with digital product, design, and architecture teams.
- Partner with cross-functional technology teams to ensure seamless system integrations, driving long-term engineering standards, team guidelines, and best practices.
- Work within and across Agile teams to maximize solution availability, performance, and scalability in a high-volume environment.
- Drive operational excellence by actively troubleshooting field issues, performing root-cause analysis, and managing CI/CD deployment pipelines.
- Stay ahead of tech trends, experiment with new tools, and mentor engineering community members to foster continuous learning.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering)
- At least 4 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience developing software on an ATM software stack (e.g., ProFlex 4, NDC/911/912 protocols, or Vendor XFS)
- 6+ years of experience developing in Java, C++, or JavaScript
- 6+ years of experience with Microsoft Windows OS administration and hardware-to-software system integration
- 6+ years of experience leading collaborative software release processes
- 3+ years of experience performing log and tracing analysis to troubleshoot complex system issues
- Experience with CI/CD automation, testing frameworks, and cloud-based data streaming or microservices architectures
- Experience with interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity, utilizing capabilities beyond basic code completion

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $197,300 - $225,100 for Full-stack Engineer 4Richmond, VA: $179,400 - $204,700 for Full-stack Engineer 4
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
