General PurposeConducts special studies and analyses, develops alternatives, presents recommendations to management and influences management decisions. Researches, analyzes, develops and implements new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions. Coordinates Fuel Resources' support of Net Power Cost testimony and data requests.
Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual FERC/regulatory reports.
- Process internal controls to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Support Corporate Accounting in developing monthly general ledger entries.
- Provide coal cost detail for regulatory filings and answer data requests from internal and external sources.
- Represent the company in meetings and proceedings with senior management and regulatory commissions.
- Support coal supply negotiations.
- Assist in maintaining policies, procedures, business processes, and contract activities.
- Develop operational knowledge over control center activities.
- Develop new processes and procedures that impact the business.
- Identify areas of potential risk and propose process improvements and innovations.
- Compile, analyze and interpret operating data.
Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business management or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five years experience in accounting or a related field.
- Experience in financial statement preparation and analysis
- Strategic, analytical and proficient computer skills.
- Ability to work with all organizational levels, regulators, and joint owners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions.
- Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
Preferences- Advanced degree and/or CPA designation.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience working with legal contracts and ability to interpret and apply contractual language.
- General understanding of utility economics and accounting, FERC Code of Regulations, and utility commission rules and regulations.
- Experience in SAP Financial Systems modules.
