Front-End Developer with a strong concentration in
Section 508 accessibility compliance. In this vital role, you will ensure that the RAD system's interfaces are fully usable, accessible, and compliant for all users, including individuals with disabilities. Combining solid front-end engineering capabilities with deep, hands-on expertise in accessibility testing and remediation, you will work within a cross-functional Agile team of software developers, systems engineers, and product owners. You will bake accessibility into the UI by design, using modern frameworks and screen reader technologies to build accessible, high-performing user interfaces.
The annual base salary range for this role is $150,000-$250,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Work Style: On-site with up to 2 days per week of telework flexibility available!
Required Skills- Front-End Engineering: Proven experience developing front-end web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue preferred).
- Screen Reader Expertise: Deep hands-on experience conducting testing with JAWS screen readers, alongside working familiarity with other assistive technologies.
- Accessibility Standards: Comprehensive knowledge of Section 508 standards, WCAG 2.1/2.2 (Levels A/AA), and WAI-ARIA authoring practices.
- Semantic Web & UX: Strong expertise in semantic HTML, accessible form controls, keyboard navigation patterns, and custom focus management.
- Testing & Auditing Tools: Proficiency with accessibility auditing tools such as axe DevTools, WAVE, Pa11y, and Lighthouse.
- Version Control & Agile: Experience using Git for version control and Agile tools like Jira and Confluence for workflow management.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 7+ years of professional software engineering experience OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 11+ years of hands-on technical software development experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired SkillsVPAT Authoring: Experience producing Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) / Accessibility Conformance Reports for federal agency evaluation.
Pipeline Integration: Familiarity with integrating automated accessibility checks directly into CI/CD build pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD).
Automated Scripting: Experience using Cypress or similar automation tools for UI/accessibility test scripting.
Cloud Architecture: Familiarity with cloud-based architecture and deployments in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Domain Policy: Familiarity with government agency reporting and dissemination policies.
