The RoleYou'll build Vega's financial planning and analysis function from scratch - no existing model, process, or team to inherit. You get to lay the foundation, run it yourself for the first year, and then build the team around it.
The most important part of this job, by far, is partnering with our go-to-market org. You'll sit shoulder-to-shoulder with Sales and Marketing leadership, turning pipeline into forecasts and financial insight into real commercial decisions. If you'd rather build models quietly in a corner, this probably isn't your role - we need someone who wants to be in the room.
What You'll DoBusiness partnering with go-to-market (the heart of the job)
- Be the finance partner Sales and Marketing leadership actually turns to - pipeline coverage, quota planning, headcount, spend
- Own the revenue forecast, and keep it tightly connected to what's happening on the ground in go-to-market
- Dig into unit economics: CAC, LTV, payback, margin by segment
- Lead the financial thinking behind pricing and packaging decisions
Planning and models
- Build and own the company's operating model - revenue, headcount, and expenses across every department
- Build and maintain the model we use for fundraising, and support diligence with investors
- Run the annual budget and rolling forecasts, and keep a clear eye on runway and scenario planning
Reporting and leadership
- Build board materials - not just the slides, but the story behind them
- Set up monthly reporting rhythms, variance analysis, and department budget reviews
- After about a year, hire and lead your own FP&A team
RequirementsWhat You Bring- 8+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, or investment banking followed by an operating role
- Startup experience: you've built FP&A foundations at an early or growth-stage company
- Real fluency in SaaS metrics and unit economics
- A track record of true partnership with go-to-market teams - this is what will set you apart from other candidates
- Experience building fundraising models and board materials that leadership genuinely relied on
- Expert-level modeling chops, and you're just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves solo as you are eventually leading a team
- A communicator who can turn a spreadsheet into a decision, not just a report
Salary ranges: $180K-$220K, depending on experience and location
