The roleYou'll join as one of the first attorneys at Jay Law, helping grow a practice that's already serving clients.
First, you'll lead client relationships end to end, from the first call through signing, funding, and the ongoing check-ins that keep a plan current. You'll show what exceptional T&E counsel looks like when an attorney's time goes to judgment and relationships instead of paperwork.
Second, you'll help define the standard of care as the practice grows: what gets reviewed, by whom, and how quality holds steady matter after matter. Your forms, checklists, and judgment will shape the technology our attorneys use every day.
Third, you'll help build the firm itself, from mentoring the associates who follow you to shaping how we expand into new practice areas and new states.
What you'll do- Lead T&E matters end to end, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and probate and trust administration
- Build long-term relationships with individuals, families, founders, and the financial advisors who refer to us
- Partner with our engineers to turn your practice judgment into workflows, drafting tools, and review protocols
- Help set and document the standard of care so it can be taught to the attorneys who join after you
- Mentor and help recruit the next associates and partners, and shape the culture they inherit
- You will set the tone of the firm, for the clients we serve, for the attorneys who join after you, and for a profession watching whether this can be done well
Who you are- A T&E attorney with significant sophisticated planning experience, licensed and in good standing in California or New York
- Exceptional at the work and deeply focused on the client experience
- Excited to help design what technology-enabled legal services look like, rather than reacting to it
- Comfortable with ambiguity: shipping, revising, and putting your name on something new
- Drawn to serving people who need real counsel at a price they can afford
- Bonus points: experience with probate and trust administration, high-volume or multi-state practice, legal technology or AI tools, or existing referral relationships with financial advisors or CPAs
What success looks like in your first year- You're leading a growing book of client relationships, with turnaround and quality clients talk about
- Your judgment is built into the tools and protocols the whole firm uses, and your time per matter keeps falling while the standard holds
- The standard of care is documented and teachable, and the attorneys who follow you can deliver to it
- The foundation is set for what's next: a deeper bench, new practice areas, and new states
