HealthLeap helps clinicians find patients who need attention first. We're live at 40+ hospitals and plan to add another 100. Each hospital has its own systems, API quirks, and clinical workflows.
You'll work directly with hospital IT and clinical teams to understand what they need. Much of the job is building and running integrations. Some problems call for more: a tool to help a hospital inspect its data, analytics for a clinical team, or a workflow built around how that hospital works. You'll build those solutions and make the useful patterns reusable.
Our stack is Python and TypeScript.
What you'll do- Own the engineering work behind hospital integrations, from technical discovery through reliable production data.
- Build and debug connections to record systems, including authentication, APIs, data mapping, and monitoring.
- Work with hospital teams to investigate problems and test solutions with the people who use them.
- Build customer tools or analytics when the standard product does not yet meet a hospital's needs.
- Turn repeated requests into reusable connectors, validation tools, and product features.
What we're looking for- 5+ years building and operating production software, with strong backend, API, data modeling, and SQL skills.
- Experience taking a complex third-party integration live with the technical team on the other side.
- Evidence that you've built software around a customer's workflow and improved it after they used it.
- Enjoyment of customer work. You can investigate an unclear problem, explain tradeoffs, and decide what to build without waiting for a complete spec.
What will make you stand out- You've founded a company or been an early engineer who owned the messy parts.
- You've worked with EHRs, HL7, or FHIR. Strong engineering and integration judgment matters more than healthcare experience.
This role is NOT for you if- You'd rather maintain an interface than build the system.
- You want the spec handed to you.
- You want to stay heads-down. You'll work with hospital teams regularly.
- You want predictable 9-to-5 hours. We protect deep rest, but a hospital go-live can mean a 60+ hour week.

Compensation and benefits- $200,000-$275,000 base plus meaningful equity

LocationSan Francisco, in person. We work together in the office by default, with flexibility to work from home when needed. We judge output, not hours.
