Position Summary : The Industrial Mover / Rigger Foreman is responsible for planning,coordinating, and supervising rigging, heavy hauling, lifting, and industrialmoving activities on civil construction and infrastructure projects. This roleprovides leadership to rigging crews, ensures all lifting operations arecompleted safely and efficiently, and works closely with project teams, craneoperators, subcontractors, and site management to support project execution.
The successful candidate is an experienced leader with extensiveknowledge of rigging practices, heavy equipment moving, lift planning, andconstruction safety requirements
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead industrial movers, riggers, laborers, and related field personnel.
- Plan and coordinate heavy lifting, rigging, hoisting, transportation, and equipment installation activities.
- Review engineered lift plans, rigging drawings, and project specifications.
- Conduct pre-job hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and daily safety meetings.
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations, site safety requirements, and company policies.
- Direct crane operations and coordinate lifting activities with operators and project teams.
- Inspect rigging gear, lifting devices, shackles, slings, spreader bars, and other lifting equipment.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate lifting and rigging risks before work begins.
- Coordinate movement and installation of industrial equipment, structural components, prefabricated assemblies, and heavy construction materials.
- Monitor crew productivity, work quality, and schedule performance.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, lift plans, equipment certifications, and daily reports.
- Assist with manpower planning, crew scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Mentor and train crew members in safe rigging practices and company procedures.
- Collaborate with superintendents, project managers, engineers, and clients to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications & Experience- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in industrial moving, rigging, heavy lifting, or civil construction.
- Previous experience leading crews as a Foreman, Lead Hand, or Supervisor.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Rigging principles and load calculations
- Crane signaling and hoisting operations
- Heavy equipment moving and installation
- Civil construction practices
- Load securement and transportation logistics
- Ability to interpret engineered lift plans, technical drawings, and construction documents.
- Experience working on infrastructure, industrial, marine, energy, mining, or heavy civil projects is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 1 or 3 considered an asset
Required Certifications- Rigging Certification or recognized rigging training.
- Crane and Hoist Signalperson certification.
- WHMIS.
- Occupational First Aid (asset).
- Fall Protection.
- Confined Space Awareness (asset).
- Ground Disturbance Level II (asset).
- CSTS 2020 or equivalent construction safety training.
- Valid safety tickets required by project and client specifications.

- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and work at heights for extended periods.

Compensation: This is a Unionized position with Apex/PIM - Operating Engineers 115. This position will earn Union wages and will have access to extended Union healthcare and benefits, a Union-sponsored pension plan, and additional training through the Training Plan. Expected hourly rate: Unionized wage range for this position is
$46.61 - $50.99 per hour (based on candidate's experience), plus 11.2% vacation/statutory holiday pay.
