Foreign Exchange & Benefits Accounting Manager
KBR is a dynamic solutions provider to governmental and commercial customers globally. As part of the Corporate Accounting organization, the Foreign Exchange & Benefits Accounting Manager serves as the primary accounting partner to the Foreign Exchange and Compensation & Benefits functions as well as accounting and finance professionals across KBR.

- Foreign currency transactions
- Debt instruments
- Derivative financial instruments
- Hedge accounting.
The position requires the ability to partner among many team members, including:
- Corporate Accounting and Planning to ensure proper input is provided for accurate budgets and forecasts.
- KBR segment accounting teams to communicate impacts of benefits costs as well as foreign exchange changes.
- Collaborate with Treasury teams to ensure up-to-date debt compliance and proper hedge accounting
- HR and Benefits teams to ensure benefits accounting aligns with current business practices
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- The position requires leadership and direct manager oversight of employees and is responsible for work assignments, performance reviews, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
- Lead the implementation and development of new procedures and features to improve the workflow of the organization and provide training for new or existing staff if necessary.
Benefits Accounting Responsibilities
- Manage accounting and reporting for pension and other post-retirement benefit plans.
- Oversee accounting for deferred compensation arrangements.
- Manage accounting for stock-based compensation programs.
- Review actuarial reports and ensure accurate recording of pension and benefit obligations.
- Coordinate with Compensation & Benefits leadership regarding employee benefit programs.
- Support annual audits related to employee benefit plans.
- Prepare benefit-related financial statement disclosures.
- Monitor compliance with ASC 715 and ASC 718.
FX, Debt & Hedging Responsibilities
- Manage accounting related to foreign currency transactions and foreign exchange exposure.
- Review foreign currency remeasurement and translation calculations.
- Monitor currency translation adjustments for accuracy.
- Analyze and record foreign exchange gains and losses.
- Oversee accounting for debt instruments, revolving credit facilities, and financing arrangements.
- Review debt schedules, issuance costs, and interest expense accounting.
- Manage derivative accounting activities, including FX and interest rate hedging instruments.
- Support hedge designation, documentation, and effectiveness testing requirements.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 815 and ASC 830.
- Partner directly with the Treasurer regarding financing activities and risk management strategies.·
Financial Reporting & Close
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for Treasury and Benefits accounting areas.
- Review and approve account reconciliations.
- Support preparation of quarterly and annual disclosures.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new standards.
- Maintain effective SOX controls and support testing with internal and external auditors.
Planning, Analysis & Process Improvement
- Support budgeting and forecasting by providing input on benefit expenses, pension costs, foreign exchange impacts, and interest expense.
- Perform variance analysis and provide business insights to management.
- Partner with FP&A on long-range planning activities.
- Identify automation and process improvement opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen controls and efficiency.
Key Qualifications:
Required:
- 9+ years of accounting experience
- Experience with SAP, Hyperion HFM, Microsoft Dynamics
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively work cross-functionally, and with all levels of management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytic skills and demonstrated ability to plan and organize.
Preferred:
- Capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing, and leading teams and initiatives.
- Experience in corporate Benefits Accounting and/or Foreign Exchange
