Overview
Fleet Maintenance Supervisor- Brooklyn Essential Job Summary:

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of technicians and welders aimed at maintaining the locations equipment/fleet in peak operating conditions with the collaboration and guidance of the Fleet Maintenance Manager. They Provide direction to technicians, welders, and administrative personnel to ensure that all repair/ maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient, and in a timely manner. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for preventative maintenance, and repair of company equipment, as well as administrative duties such as parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking and cost control. The Maintenance Supervisor utilizes fleet management and onboard computing software to monitor vehicle performance and cost.

  • Provide direction to A, B, C level, and lead technicians assigned to work group to ensure that all repair and maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
  • Report to management on performance; make recommendations for process/programmatic changes for improvement or efficiencies.
  • Supervise technicians in maintenance shop, including such responsibilities as conducting daily shop huddles; yard checks; coaching/counseling/ training lead technician and all technician levels on performance/corrective action, when necessary; make hiring/termination decisions in concert with Human Resources and appropriate management; conduct employee training and performance evaluations; evaluate and make recommendations for merit increase, promotion and job changes, as appropriate.
  • Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with Company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Identify training opportunities and document issues and constructively discuss corrective action, as needed, with technician.
  • Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues and resolution to ensure all work is properly completed in accordance with Company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Oversee repair diagnostics on more complex matters and provide coaching, when necessary; may be required to road test vehicles to determine necessary repairs.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on equipment and vehicles used by Company, on site and on the road, including: engine chassis repair and maintenance; knowledge of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems to maintain and repair vehicles in a timely and safe manner; knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems to effectively diagnose and repair complex heating and cooling systems in vehicles in a timely and safe manner; and knowledge of welding tools to fix heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure equipment is back in an operable condition as quickly and as safely as possible.
  • Manage related administrative matters for team, including payroll, maintenance of employee records, records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, recording of all information into TMT Maintenance Software.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • 2+ year experience as a supervisor or foreman/team lead.
  • Must have experience with Electrical, Air Brakes, Medium and Heavy-Duty Diesel engines and computer aided diagnostics (CAT ET, Cummins Insite, Premium Tech Tool, etc.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.
  • Advanced experience working with fleet management and onboard computing software.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT CMV rules, OSHA, and other federal and local regulations and requirement
  • Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred

IWS’s base pay actually offered takes into account a range of factors including, but not limited to, internal equity, the candidate’s geographic region,  job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs.

 

Bonus: This role is bonus eligible as part of the compensation package.
