Full Job Description
Job Title: Fixed Plant Reliability Engineer Reporting directly to the Mill Manager, the Fixed Plant Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing reliability and maintenance strategies that support mill commissioning, ramp-up, and steady-state operations. The selected applicant will help establish the systems, standards, data, and improvement processes required for a world-class maintenance program. You'll be part of a high-performing team where your ideas matter, your skills grow, and your work shapes the future of Eskay Creek. Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Maintenance Readiness: - Lead RAM study execution: Lead the Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) study before mill commissioning, then translate key findings into practical maintenance strategies, spare parts requirements, risk mitigations, and improvement actions that support mechanical availability objectives. - Identify and ensure acquisition of critical spare parts. - Aid in the development of the risk register and work to ensure mitigations are in place. - Implementation and curation of CMMS asset hierarchies, bills of materials (BOM's) and planned maintenance (PM) development. - Identify, measure, and execute projects aimed at improving mill availability during ramp-up. - Establish condition monitoring program for critical equipment. Continual Improvement: - Development and ownership of improvement pipeline for asset management. - Drive improvements in the condition-based monitoring program through innovation and learnings. - Engineer out areas of poor performance in equipment and safety by identifying and completing initiatives which deliver measurable value. - Investigate equipment failures through a structured RCA process and identify, implement and action solutions. - Provide direction and guidance on relevant mechanical equipment standards. - Identify repeat failure modes and develop permanent corrective actions Additional Responsibilities: - All other duties as reasonably assigned The Ideal Candidate Education / Qualifications: - Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering or in a related discipline is preferred - Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) Engineer-in-Training status with a demonstrated path toward registration is preferred. Experience / Skills - Experience with reliability engineering methods and tools such as FMEA, RCM, RCA, bad actor analysis, equipment criticality assessments, life-cycle cost thinking, and maintenance strategy optimization would be considered an asset. - Experience working through mechanical issues during commissioning would be an asset. - Ability to communicate technical information clearly to maintenance, operations, engineering, vendors, and leadership; facilitate alignment on reliability risks, priorities, and corrective actions; and support practical decision-making in a fast-paced site environment. - Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and align maintenance, operations, engineering, vendors, and contractors around reliability priorities and corrective actions. - Sound engineering judgment in dynamic site environments, with the ability to prioritize risk, solve complex equipment problems, and adapt strategies as conditions evolve. - Strong commitment to safety, risk management, and responsible engineering practice, including the ability to identify asset-related hazards and embed safe, maintainable solutions into reliability strategies. Work Location & Conditions This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation. The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy. There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects. Compensation The expected salary range for this position is CAD 130,000-150,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
