Firmware Engineer, Machine Vision Cameras
If you enjoy working close to the hardware, this role offers the opportunity to build the firmware that powers advanced industrial imaging products used around the world. As part of Teledyne FLIR Integrated Imaging Solutions, you’ll work at the intersection of embedded processors, FPGAs, and image sensors, helping deliver reliable, high-performance machine vision cameras for automation, robotics, inspection, and intelligent transportation applications.
You’ll collaborate with experienced firmware, FPGA, hardware, and software engineers while developing the low-level technology that enables customers to capture and process critical imaging data.
 What you'll do
  • Design and maintain embedded firmware in C for industrial camera platforms.
  • Develop low-level drivers, interrupt handling, DMA paths, boot processes, and board support functionality.
  • Implement processor-to-FPGA interfaces, register maps, and control mechanisms.
  • Contribute to machine vision interface stacks including GenICam, GigE Vision, USB3 Vision, and CoaXPress.
  • Optimize high-throughput data streaming, synchronization, and timing performance.
  • Support board bring-up, hardware debugging, and root-cause analysis.
  • Investigate customer-reported issues and deliver verified fixes.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, testing, and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with FPGA, hardware, software, and test engineering teams.
 What you need
  • Required: Strong embedded C development skills; working knowledge of C++.
  • Required: Experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded systems.
  • Required: Understanding of interrupts, DMA, low-level drivers, and resource-constrained systems.
  • Required: Hardware debugging using schematics, datasheets, and oscilloscopes.
  • Required: Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Required: 3+ years (Master’s), 5+ years (Bachelor’s), PhD, or equivalent experience.
  • Required: Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Advantage: FPGA interfacing, embedded Linux, machine vision protocols, image processing, Python/Bash scripting, or VHDL/Verilog familiarity.
