In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance embedded systems for our next-generation laser marking and engraving product lines. This position focuses on full-stack embedded development for integrated system controllers, which combine smart scan control, interface hardware, and real-time processing. You will own low-level CPU firmware execution, custom Embedded Linux system development, and driver integration. This is an onsite role based in our Acton, MA or Cranberry Township, PA office.
- Design, develop, and test real-time firmware for network-ready CPU platforms and controller boards using C and C++.
- Build, customize, and maintain embedded Linux kernels, custom device drivers, and system-level software to interface with Ethernet-based smart hardware.
- Collaborate with hardware engineering teams to bring up prototype boards and integrate network communication protocols, including EtherNet/IP, Profinet, and Industry 4.0 IoT standards.
- Support and expand the firmware backing the API to allow seamless remote equipment control and automation.
- Contribute actively to core firmware architecture, hardware-software partitioning, and object-oriented software design decisions.
