Full Job Description
This position is based onsite in San Diego, CA.

The Role:

The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for ensuring the day to day operation of the accounting, financial and reporting function of the company, which is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland with subsidiaries operating in Europe, the United States, and Australia, is prepared and managed in accordance with good accounting practices. The Financial Reporting Manager will work closely with colleagues across multiple time zones around the world. They will have regular contact with and will support Sales, Operations, PD, and Clinical groups in all locations, and will work with global finance colleagues, and outsourced financial support in Europe and Australia. Also working with a range of financial advisors/ professionals, including auditors, tax, advisors, etc.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Financial accounting and reporting:
    • Manages the preparation of the monthly management accounts including (among other items) bank and balance sheet reconciliations, prepayment and accrual review, intercompany reconciliation, fixed assets.
    • Manages the Finance team routine operating plans and provides guidance to team members.
    • Responsible for preparing IFRS Financial Statements including all notes and disclosures and half yearly financial statements.
    • Maintains and updates subsidiary financial statements, including any changes to transfer pricing strategies.
    • Leads the auditing process.
    • Oversees the General ledger accounting review.
    • Manages the accounts payable / accounts receivable function and provides operational guidance on potential process improvements.
    • Oversees the effective processing and payment for payroll outside of the United States and actively reviews US payroll preparation performed by HR.
    • Assists with the management of the VAT and corporate tax process.
    • Supports adhoc requests from work colleagues, Directors, shareholders, advisors, etc.
    • Provides functional knowledge coaching to other finance team members (support team members as a subject matter expert in finance and accounting operations).
    • Develops and and manages new finance process improvements.


  • Management of the accounting function team members,
  • Leads by example in focusing on continuous development and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of internal controls, financial policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Provides support as required in relation to other aspects of the Finance function, Legal and Regulatory, etc.
  • Capable of working on a full range of tasks from routine and administrative tasks to responsibilities for highly complex tasks.
  • Complies with the policies, procedures and work instructions of Mainstay Medical and its subsidiaries.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Typically has 5 or more years of experience with 2 or more years of functional and/or people management experience.
  • Experience in SEC reporting required.
  • ACA, ACCA , CIMA, CPA, or CMA exam candidate is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in the Life Sciences industry, preferably in the medical device sector preferred.


The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000/year; however, base pay offered will take into account a range of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes a range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
