Transaction Advisory Services: Financial Due Diligence - Managing DirectorWe are seeking a Managing Director to help lead and expand our Financial Due Diligence practice. Managing Directors take ownership of strategic client relationships, lead the most complex buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence engagements, originate new business, develop senior professionals, and help shape the continued growth and market position of
CFGI's Transaction Advisory Services practice.
What you might expect:- Serve as the executive engagement leader and senior advisor for complex buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence engagements for private equity firms, strategic buyers, lenders, and corporate clients.
- Advise CFOs, private equity sponsors, corporate development teams, investment professionals, and executive leadership on transaction-related financial risks, valuation considerations, quality of earnings, working capital, debt and debt-like items, and deal execution.
- Lead a portfolio of client relationships and multidisciplinary engagement teams delivering financial due diligence, transaction advisory, carve-out, and transaction support services.
- Provide senior technical oversight on U.S. GAAP, transaction accounting issues, financial reporting considerations, and complex deal structures, including reviewing and challenging significant analyses and conclusions.
- Oversee engagement strategy, scoping, quality assurance, staffing, project economics, risk management, and client satisfaction across the client portfolio.
- Originate new business and expand existing client relationships through strategic account management, referral networks, proposal leadership, networking, thought leadership, and market development.
- Partner with leaders across CFGI's practice areas to identify cross-selling opportunities and deliver integrated solutions throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- Coordinate directly with client executives, investment bankers, legal counsel, lenders, auditors, and third-party advisors on significant transaction matters.
- Help shape practice strategy, market priorities, service offerings, and scalable delivery models that strengthen engagement quality, efficiency, and growth.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop Directors, Senior Managers, Managers, and Consultants while strengthening the practice's technical capabilities, leadership pipeline, and succession planning.
- Contribute to methodology development, financial analysis tools, automation initiatives, internal training, and thought leadership that advance CFGI's Transaction Advisory Services capabilities.
What you must have:- 12+ years of professional experience in public accounting, transaction advisory, consulting, corporate finance, accounting, or a related finance environment.
- Prior financial due diligence experience, including meaningful experience leading financial due diligence engagements and evaluating transaction-related financial matters.
What sets you apart:- Experience leading complex buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence engagements, including quality of earnings, working capital, debt and debt-like items, cash flow, and other transaction analyses.
- Experience serving as a senior relationship owner and trusted advisor to executive leadership, private equity sponsors, and strategic buyers on transaction-related accounting issues, financial risks, valuation considerations, and deal execution.
- Demonstrated success originating new business, expanding existing client relationships, developing referral networks, and contributing directly to revenue growth.
- Experience overseeing a portfolio of engagements, including responsibility for staffing, engagement economics, technical quality, risk management, and client delivery.
- Experience applying U.S. GAAP through transaction advisory, audit engagements, financial reporting, or technical accounting projects.
- Experience reviewing and delivering executive-level due diligence reports, client presentations, and transaction recommendations.
- Experience developing Directors, Senior Managers, and other senior professionals through coaching, performance management, technical development, and client leadership opportunities.
- Experience contributing to practice strategy, market development, methodologies, training, thought leadership, or scalable delivery initiatives.
- Experience with a Big 4, national accounting firm, or specialized transaction advisory practice serving private equity and strategic clients.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex financial data analysis.
Nice to have:- CPA license or other relevant professional credential.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience serving private equity firms, strategic buyers, lenders, or middle-market companies.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions, carve-outs, post-close integration planning, IPO readiness, or capital markets transactions.
