About This Role General Matter is building the enrichment capacity America needs to produce its own nuclear fuel, and every dollar we spend getting there has to count. We are looking for a Financial Analyst to run the day-to-day finance operations that keep our engineers and operators moving: leading our accounts payable program, owning our procure-to-pay and spend platform, and building the reports that show leadership where the money is going and how it tracks against plan. You will also help build the budgets, cost models, and long-range projections behind the company's biggest decisions, and at times embed directly with engineering teams during major development campaigns. Responsibilities- Lead the accounts payable program day to day. Process and approve vendor invoices, keep payments on time, and resolve issues with suppliers and internal teams.
- Own the procure-to-pay, card spend, and expense platform. Build the tools, workflows, and controls that keep spend visible and compliant as the company scales.
- Produce weekly reporting on spending patterns and budget-to-actuals, and flag variances to budget owners and leadership before they become problems.
- Build department and company spend projections for the annual budget and ongoing forecast cycles.
- Support strategic projects with cost modeling and analysis, including major capital programs, facility build-out, and long-range planning.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to understand current and future needs, turn that into analysis leadership can act on, and embed with teams during major development campaigns.
Basic Qualifications- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, or a related analytical role (internships included).
Preferred Skills and Experience- Experience in a fast-paced engineering or highly technical environment, with a resourceful approach to delivering under tight timelines or budget constraints.
- Hands-on experience with an ERP, procure-to-pay, or spend management platform (e.g., Ramp, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP).
- Exposure to accounts payable, expense management, or month-end close processes.
- Advanced Excel skills, including building financial models, forecasts, and variance analysis from scratch.
- Ability to explain financial terms and tradeoffs clearly to engineers and other non-finance teams.
- Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools for automating reporting. CPA or CMA progress is a plus.
Additional Requirements- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
- Permanent U.S. residence is required for this role.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Compensation and BenefitsThe base salary range for this role is
$85,000 to $120,000 annually.
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
