Job Summary:The Financial Analyst has a critical role in analyzing, tracking, and optimizing revenue, cost, and profitability for the growing $450M+ Warfighter Systems division. This Accounting/Finance role will cross-functionally support teams including Operations, Supply Chain, Contracts, Business Development, and Program Management. Using data and analysis, this role provides insights into key revenue and cost drivers and supports decision-making processes.
Key job responsibilities include: - Generate accurate and timely reports, including key Sales & Margin and Orders reports. Analyze, report, and reconcile revenue, orders, cost of goods sold, production costs, and variance analysis.
- Lead monthly Revenue & Cost of Goods Sold reconciliation processes. Own revenue recognition related processes, including closing, reporting, and audit related activities.
- Own Program/Project Finance related activities. Help set up new projects in the financial system, ensuring accurate business partner, contract, and other financial data. Analyze and reconcile revenue/invoicing, cost/inventory, and related balance sheet accounts.
- Support complex Percentage of Cost Completion (POCC) accounting for select government projects. Own project setup and analysis, including revenue, cost, and inventory. Resolve issues. Prepare related monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, including direct and indirect materials, labor, and overhead expenses. Identify key cost drivers, trends, and areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead. Review and update standard costs annually, ensuring alignment with current market conditions and manufacturing practices.
- Assist with inventory valuation, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. Perform regular inventory reconciliations and identify discrepancies or variances. Contribute to inventory control strategies to avoid excess or obsolete inventory.
- Support quarterly physical inventories and weekly cycle count processes. Own monthly bonded stock and ship-in-place inventory review, analysis, and audit related activities.
- Perform monthly closing activities, journal entries, and reporting as required. Own related account reconciliation processes. Utilize BlackLine system for closing and reconciliation tracking.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies. Maintain SOX controls and procedures. Support internal and external E&Y audit testing and requests as required.
- Partner with Finance & IT teams to support key Accounting/Finance processes in legacy ERP system and new A&D Infor ERP system being implemented at Roanoke site.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA/CMA is a plus but not required.
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant Accounting/Finance work experience preferred.
- Direct experience working in revenue and cost accounting, commercial and government contracting, and a manufacturing environment is a plus for this role.
- Working knowledge of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, and ERP systems (Infor preferred).
- Excellent analytical, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in fast-paced environment.
- Overall mindset of continuous improvement. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be able to proactively identify and implement process improvements.
- Advanced expertise with MS Excel, including complex formulas and pivot tables.
