Full Job Description
Job Summary

Amazon's Transportation network moves billions of packages annually, and fill rate - how fully we utilize every container and load - is one of the most critical levers in our cost structure. We're looking for a Finance Manager who is curious about how network design decisions drive fill rate outcomes, and motivated to turn that understanding into better planning, sharper reporting, and actionable insights.

What makes this role different

This isn't a passive reporting seat. You'll be the connective tissue between network design decisions and their financial consequences. Fill rate spans physics, network topology, and sort execution - you'll need to understand all of it well enough to build plans the business trusts and surface insights that change how we operate. The data is massive, the stakeholders are senior, and your work shows up in real loads moving through the network.

You'll thrive here if you

- Are a self-starter who proactively builds relationships to get the information you need (not waiting to be told whom to call)

- Are genuinely curious and willing to learn - you'd rather walk a sort center than read a summary about fill rate

- Take ownership of your metrics and treat gaps to plan as problems to solve, not just variances to report

- Can translate complex operational dynamics into clear financial narratives for senior leadership

- See your role as a thought partner that drives action - programs launched, glidepaths achieved, clawback captured

- View AI as a tool to ask better questions and build scalable reporting

Key job responsibilities

What you'll do

You'll serve as a single threaded financial owner of network design and fill rate performance within Surface Transportation finance. Working alongside Operations, Network Design, and Technology leaders,

You will:

- Develop expertise in how network design decisions (lane structures, hub-to-hub flows, touches, length of haul) translate into fill rate outcomes and financial impact

- Own fill rate planning end-to-end (forecasts, glidepaths, gap identification, and clawback quantification)

- Build reporting that gives leadership clear line-of-sight into performance versus targets, variance root causes, and levers to close gaps

- Connect operational metrics (cube per load, NLCF, container fullness) to P&L outcomes through analytics and insights

- Proactively partner across Network Design, Operations, Sort Technology, and Planning to source data, validate assumptions, and drive metrics to plan

- Leverage AI-powered tools to automate reporting and elevate insight quality

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

- Bachelor's degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

- MBA, or CPA

- Knowledge of SQL/ETL

- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
