Position Summary The Finance Manager- dental services directs and manages the day-to-day finance operations of the Dental Services dept. This role provides financial guidance and support to department leadership, including budget preparation and monitoring, financial analysis, variance reporting, accounting operations, audit support, and process improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
Direct and manage the day-to-day operations of department finance functions.
Supervise Hospital and contract staff supporting accounting and billing operations.
Establish priorities, review progress, and resolve financial and operational issues.
Collaborate with Hospital Finance to ensure department financial needs are represented in institutional financial systems and processes.
Provide financial analysis related to funding, expenses, overhead, trends, projections, and other departmental needs.
Prepare and monitor operating and capital budgets and provide ongoing variance reporting to department and senior leadership.
Work closely with the Department Revenue Manager on dental revenue opportunities, including denials management, running and analyzing production reports, and identifying additional opportunities to increase dental collections.
Interpret and communicate Hospital, Physician Organization, government, and Financial Accounting Standards Board regulations and requirements related to financial management and accounting.
Partner with department leadership and PIs to identify and resolve financial, policy, system, and procedural issues.
Develop and implement new systems, procedures, and process improvements to improve efficiency and financial performance.
Support annual independent audits, including preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance reporting.
Develop strategies and solutions to address internal control and procedural weaknesses identified through audits or departmental reviews.
Establish accounting procedures related to grant and contract administration.
Effectively manage employees within the assigned department and collaborate with senior leaders and peers to address financial and operational priorities.
Minimum Qualifications Education: bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: 8 years of relevant experience required.
