As a Finance Business Partner, you will support the subcontractor managers along with our procurement specialists in the monitoring and performance assessment of our subcontractors, with a specific focus on championing budgets adherence and forecasting accuracy over multi-million-dollar contracts.

Beyond numbers reporting and data crunching, we are looking for someone to drive cost visibility, support the identification of risks and streamline financial processes and workflows. With the current operational pace and the projected growth in our yard activities, efficiency gains and processes improvements are key objectives of this position, both internally and externally with our subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

Business Partnering & Monitoring
  • Act as the primary financial advisor to subcontractor managers across active naval repair contracts.
  • Track project budgets against actuals and collaborate with operations on variance analysis.
  • Challenge cost-to-complete assessment and support the subcontracting team on the identification and mitigation of project risks.
  • Review and validate procurement orders and commitments.
  • Validate subcontractor billings against contractual terms and supporting documents.

Process Improvements & Controls
  • Assess existing process workflows and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Strengthen internal controls surrounding operational procurement, scope modifications and budget variances.
  • Drive simplification and efficiency in our internal reporting activities and billing processes with our subcontractors.
  • Support monthly operational close ensuring timely treatment of subcontracting information.

Qualifications and requirements

Technical Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • CPA certification is an asset.
  • 4 years of minimal experience.
  • Background in project businesses, construction, heavy industrial or large manufacturing activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with industry-standard ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in both French and English is required for this position, as you will interact with both french and English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.
  • Successful completion of the security screening process and obtainment of the required security clearance under the Federal Government's Contract Security Program (minimum of 5 years of residency in Canada, with no interruption of 6 consecutive months).Eligible for Canada security clearance.
