Pay: The hourly rate for this position is between $45.00 – $60.00 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Position Overview:
The Field Technician III serves as an experienced field resource responsible for leading crews, executing advanced testing and maintenance, and troubleshooting complex substation equipment and systems. This role provides technical leadership, ensures safety compliance, and supports engineers and project teams during commissioning and critical field operations.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to and reinforce all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring proper PPE usage and safe work practices across the team.
- Lead job site safety briefings, identify hazards, and implement mitigation measures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, holding team members accountable and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead field execution of testing, inspection, and maintenance of high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment.
- Perform advanced testing and diagnostics on circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical expertise.
- Direct repair, replacement, and maintenance activities to ensure proper restoration of equipment functionality.
- Support installation and commissioning activities, including leading functional testing and system verification.
- Interpret test results and recognize abnormal conditions, escalating issues and recommending corrective actions.
- Review and ensure accuracy of field documentation, including test reports, maintenance logs, and discrepancy tracking.
- Coordinate daily field activities with engineers, project managers, and other crews to ensure efficient execution.
- Mentor and train junior technicians, providing technical guidance and reinforcing best practices.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology, or Military experience preferred
- 5+ Years Relevant Industry Experience
- NETA III Certified
- Industry Certification Programs preferred - e.g. Infrared, Corona, Oil Analysis, Manufacturers, etc.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs.
