Help deliver mission-critical communications solutions that keep organizations and communities connected.

At Tait Communications, we design, deliver, and support reliable communications solutions for customers who depend on clear, secure connectivity. We are seeking an experienced Field Support Engineer to serve as a trusted technical partner to our customers, dealers, and internal teams across North America.

In this highly visible role, you will provide expert remote and on-site support throughout system design, implementation, commissioning, acceptance, and ongoing operation. You will troubleshoot complex radio and networked systems, lead technical delivery in the field, and strengthen team capability through coaching and knowledge sharing.

You will be a subject matter expert and technical lead, combining hands-on engineering expertise with sound judgment, strong customer service, and the ability to take ownership of issues through resolution. You will also support sales development activities by helping shape practical, technically sound solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Act as the primary technical interface for customers following delivery of Tait products and systems.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support, owning issues from initial diagnosis through resolution.
  • Participate in requirements-capture and validation meetings, offering practical field expertise.
  • Develop test protocols and support factory, customer, site-acceptance, and regression testing.
  • Lead or support system staging, configuration, software updates, integration, and testing.
  • Perform or support equipment installation, site commissioning, system acceptance, and product field trials.
  • Plan and deliver customer training and technical presentations.
  • Manage on-site technical activities to agreed schedules, requirements, and contractual boundaries.
  • Coach engineers, review technical work, and help establish high standards across the team.
  • Partner with sales, presales, solutions engineering, project engineering, and support teams to develop effective customer solutions.

What You'll Bring
  • At least five years of technical experience in wireless communications repair, maintenance, field service, or a closely related environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of land mobile radio systems; experience with trunking and simulcast systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in RF systems, including design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience diagnosing complex technical issues across hardware, software, operating systems, and networks.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, TCP/IP, network standards, protocols, and hardware.
  • Strong planning, organization, leadership, and customer-service skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the confidence to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • A collaborative, adaptable approach and a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and continuous learning.

Qualifications and Travel
  • Associate of Science in Electronic Technology, equivalent military training, or comparable industrial experience required.
  • Cisco certification or related networking credentials are an advantage.
  • Moderate to significant travel is required to various customer sites, including occasional international travel and travel at short notice.

Where You'll Fit

You will report to the Customer Support Manager and work closely with engineering, presales, solutions, technical support, dealers, customers, technology partners, and global specialist teams.

Why Tait?

This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging, mission-critical communication systems while building trusted relationships with customers and colleagues around the world.
