Field Service Engineer - PVD Systems (Inline & Cluster Tools)

Location: Bay Area, California (preferred)

Reports To: Service Manager

Travel: 50-75%, as required

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Field Service Engineer to support our physical vapor deposition (PVD) systems, including inline and cluster tool platforms. The ideal candidate will be based in the Bay Area and will play a key role in installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading advanced thin film equipment at customer sites within the U.S.

Key Responsibilities
    • Perform on-site service, diagnostics, and repair of inline and cluster PVD systems
    • Support system installations, upgrades, and routine maintenance
    • Train end-users on system operation and basic troubleshooting
    • Communicate effectively with customers, internal engineering, and support teams
    • Document service work and maintain accurate service records
    • Travel as needed to customer sites (typically 50-75%)


Required Qualifications
    • 5+ years of experience servicing PVD systems or other vacuum-based semiconductor/equipment tools
    • Strong knowledge of vacuum, electrical, and mechanical systems
    • Experience with inline or cluster tool configurations preferred
    • Comfortable with hands-on, field-based troubleshooting and repairs
    • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
    • Based in the Bay Area or willing to relocate
    • S. work authorization required


Preferred Background
    • Experience supporting thin film deposition systems in a manufacturing or R&D setting
    • Prior exposure to solar, semiconductor, or consumer electronics manufacturing environments (e.g., high-volume fabs or precision thin film applications)
