FIELD OPERATIONS CONTRACT MANAGER

Your Position & How You Will Contribute:

The Field Operations Contract Manager is responsible for the technical oversight and quality control of subcontracted telecommunications installation work supporting residential, business, and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) fibre deployments. The role requires direct, hands-on experience in FTTH environments and the ability to independently assess, inspect, and resolve complex field installation issues. The position operates with limited supervision and serves as a technical authority and escalation point for subcontractor-performed installation work. Accountability includes ensuring installations meet approved designs, safety requirements, regulatory obligations, and internal quality standards.

Responsibilities & Key Duties:

Subcontractor & Field Oversight
  • Administer and enforce subcontractor agreements related to fibre and broadband installation work.
  • Oversee subcontractor execution of residential, business, and MDU fibre installations to ensure compliance with technical specifications and installation standards.
  • Inspect completed and in-progress installation work to verify quality, workmanship, and adherence to approved designs.
  • Identify installation deficiencies and direct corrective actions to address quality or compliance issues.

Technical Field Support
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance related to cabling, splicing, and fibre installation practices.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex field issues affecting live or pending customer installations.
  • Diagnose and resolve installation challenges related to infrastructure readiness, access limitations, or workmanship deficiencies.
  • Conduct site assessments to confirm installation feasibility and compliance with engineering and construction requirements.

Project Coordination
  • Coordinate installation activities for small to mid-scale field deployment projects.
  • Track installation progress against defined timelines and flag risks that may impact service delivery.
  • Ensure subcontractor work aligns with approved schedules, scope, and cost controls.

Quality Assurance & Risk Control
  • Apply established quality control processes to subcontracted installation work.
  • Monitor compliance with telecom safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify operational risks related to installation quality or subcontractor performance and implement mitigation measures.
  • Participate in post-installation reviews to identify recurring issues and recommend corrective actions.


Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurater ecords of subcontractor performance, site inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare operational reports related to installation quality, field issues, and subcontractor compliance for internal review.
  • Prepare daily productivity reports for upper management


Working Conditions
  • Regular site visits in varying and sometimes unfavorable conditions


  • Combination of office-based and field-based work with limited flexibility
  • Availability for on-call support, including evenings and weekends asrequired
  • Mandatory in-person attendance with no remote work option


Experience:
  • Extensive experience in telecommunications field operations.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in FTTH installation environments, including fibre cabling and splicing practices.
  • Experience overseeing or inspecting subcontracted telecom installation work.
  • Strong working knowledge of telecom installation standards, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to independently assess field installation quality and resolve technical issues.
  • Experience supporting residential, business, and MDU telecom installations.


Education:
  • Postsecondary education in Telecommunications, Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or a related field.
  • Project coordination or technical certification related to telecommunications or field operations is an asset.1
