We are seeking motivated and technically capable Field Engineers to support electrical substation construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and a foundational understanding of high-voltage construction operations. This is a full-time, site-based role performed in rotational shifts, requiring strong engagement with field leadership, project management processes, and a genuine commitment to safety. The Field Engineer serves as a technical resource on site and as the direct link between construction crews and the broader engineering team.
The Field Engineer will:
- Champion site safety by participating in daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, and Energized Electrical Work Permit (EEWP) compliance; immediately escalate observed hazards to field leadership.
- Work on site full time in rotational shifts to support continuous construction operations across all project phases.
- Act as a technical liaison on site, offering guidance to project leadership, construction crews, and subcontractors under direction of the Lead Field Engineer.
- Ensure project adherence to engineering and design specifications, industry standards, and construction regulations.
- Support the resolution of construction issues, deviations from plans, and unforeseen challenges; escalate to Lead Field Engineer as needed.
- Coordinate with home office engineering teams for issue resolution when required.
- Review and process submittals, RFIs, and field documentation using Procore or equivalent project management software.
- Maintain accurate field markups, daily reports, and project documentation.
- Support pre-energization checklists and commissioning walkthroughs under direction of the Lead Field Engineer.
- Support plan review and approval processes with local and state authorities, as required.
- Report status of open technical issues to Lead Field Engineer.
- Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 2 years of relevant field experience in the construction of high-voltage electrical infrastructure.
- Basic working knowledge of transmission, substation, or civil engineering design principles, construction drawings, and QC processes.
- Ability to work with and interpret engineering documents, specifications, and project deliverables in a field construction environment.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with project teams, clients, and regulatory entities.
- OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts and extended schedules in a field environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to or willingness to learn Procore or similar project management software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) designation a plus, not required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license not required.
