Your Mission

REALIZE YOUR TALENT

As a Field Applications Engineer, you serve as the primary technical interface between customers and Design engineering, operations, and sales teams. You provide technical leadership for passive fiber optic interconnect solutions including cable assemblies, MPO/MTP systems, ruggedized assemblies, custom harnesses, optical backplanes, and other passive optical products for aerospace, defense, datacenter, medical, industrial, and telecommunications markets.

Working closely with Business Development and Engineering, you support design-in activities, product selection, qualification, manufacturing readiness, and long-term customer success while ensuring solutions meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop trusted technical relationships with customer engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Recommend passive optical assemblies, cable assemblies, MPO/MTP solutions, termini, harnesses, and custom fiber optic interconnects based on application requirements.
  • Support design reviews, optical loss budgets, connector selection, routing, environmental qualification, and manufacturing considerations.
  • Provide application support throughout concept, prototype, qualification, production, and sustainment.
  • Prepare technical proposals, specifications, compliance matrices, qualification plans, white papers, and application notes.
  • Deliver customer presentations, product demonstrations, and technical training.
  • Support root-cause investigations involving insertion loss, return loss, end-face quality, contamination, polishing, and assembly processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and sales to resolve customer issues and support quotations.
  • Identify new product opportunities and emerging passive optical technologies.
  • Travel to customer locations as required.
  • Identify opportunities for product range extension and provide product training as required
  • Translate customer needs, quality requirements, and service expectations into actionable items, facilitating rapid resolution of technical issues

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelors Degree (Engineering)
  • Experience may substitute for some of the above education
    • Intermediate Level: 3+ years supporting fiber optic interconnects, passive optical assemblies, or electro-optical products

  • Determine business needs through consultation, business analysis, and targeted observations
  • Deliver effective and persuasive presentations on complex or controversial topics
