Full Job Description
The Associate Program Director (APD) is a physician leader who partners with the Program Director to design, achieve accreditation for, launch, and sustain the Moses Lake Family Medicine Residency. The APD contributes directly to the educational, clinical, and operational development of the program while maintaining an active clinical practice. As the program matures, the APD shares responsibility for resident education, assessment, recruitment, faculty development, continuous program improvement, and compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), sponsoring-institution, and organizational requirements. The APD will receive a faculty appointment with the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at academic ranks commensurate with qualifications and in accordance with WSU's appointment processes.
This position is designed to provide intentional leadership development through mentorship and progressively responsible assignments across curriculum, accreditation, resident assessment, faculty development, recruitment, and program operations. For a physician who demonstrates readiness and meets applicable ACGME qualifications, the role may provide a pathway to consideration for future Program Director leadership.
Time allotment: Before resident matriculation: 0.70 clinical / 0.30 residency leadership. Beginning with the first resident recruitment season: 0.60 clinical / 0.40 residency leadership.
Your clinical work will include direct patient care, resident and learner precepting, and hospital-based care.
