About Our FamilyWe are a family of four with two parents in demanding careers who commute to San Francisco Monday through Thursday and frequently travel domestically for business. Our boys, 14 and 11, attend different schools in the area and each play multiple competitive sports creating a busy schedule with significant transportation and logistics needs. Our Australian Labradoodle is an important, loving part of our family as well.
When we are home, we want to be fully present with our boys, whether cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, working on school projects, watching family movies, or enjoying time with friends and extended family. We place a high value on family connection and making the most of our time together.
We also value having a home that feels organized, tidy, peaceful and welcoming. Knowing that our family assistant has been proactive in planning and preparing for the next day, so that we can enjoy our time as a family without stress and distractions is important.
We have a weekly house cleaner and dinner prep service, but we are looking for someone to manage the household day-to-day, anticipate needs and take initiative to keep things organized and tidy while overseeing the boys' routines. Whether we're hosting friends for dinner, welcoming out-of-town family, or gathering for a casual weekend get-together, we enjoy having a space that feels cared for and host-ready.
We're looking for a punctual and reliable person who truly finds joy in supporting others, who shares our values and can help create a home environment where we can be present and focus on our family. We value clear communication and dependability, exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow specific instructions accurately while also using solid judgement when faced with unknowns. We hope to build a long-term partnership with someone who feels invested in our family's success and happiness.
Who You are & What We're Looking ForYou are a proactive, dependable, warm, and highly organized professional who naturally notices what needs to be done and takes ownership of it. You take genuine pride in keeping a household organized, tidy, prepared and running smoothly. You anticipate needs rather than waiting to be asked. For example, making sure uniforms are ready for the next day, noticing when groceries or household supplies are running low and restocking them, or quietly resetting the kitchen after a busy morning. You understand that it is the small things, done consistently and thoughtfully, that create a calm, organized, and well-functioning home.
The below describes you:
- You are exceptionally reliable and punctual.
- You are comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities without constant direction.
- You have excellent attention to detail and can follow specific instructions accurately.
- You use sound judgement and know when to take initiative and when to ask for clarification.
- You are flexible and comfortable adjusting priorities when schedules change or unexpected needs arise.
- You communicate clearly, respectfully and proactively with the parents.
- You are comfortable using technology, digital calendars, GPS, online shopping platforms and other tools to manage household logistics.
- You are a safe, confident driver who can navigate unfamiliar destinations efficiently and calmly.
- You genuinely enjoy being around children and teenagers and can connect with them naturally and in an age-appropriate way.
- You understand that teenagers need both structure and independence and can provide support without being overbearing
- You bring a positive, solutions-oriented attitude and look for ways to make routines and systems work better.
- You take pride in being a trusted additional set of hands for busy parents.
An important part of this role is helping to keep the family's day moving smoothly, including regular driving for school pick-ups, activities, errands, and appointments. You are a safe, attentive, and dependable driver who understands the importance of punctuality, calm transitions, and making every ride feel secure and easy.
Speaking the language of teenage boys, understanding their moods, interests, and energy levels is one of your key qualities. Whether it's engaging with our 11-year-old after school and keeping him active and off of screens, or keeping our 14-year-old on track while respecting his growing independence, you can connect in a way that feels natural and genuine. This role is not simply about supervision. We are looking for someone who can build trust and rapport with the boys while following the parents' expectations, providing appropriate structure and communicating with us about anything that may require our attention.
You possess the critical thinking skills to anticipate the boys' needs and adjust daily routines accordingly. You'll know that an after school practice requires planning ahead to prepare proper healthy foods to fuel a growing athlete. You'll understand when they may need some extra patience after a tough day at school. You'll be proactive in ensuring that each child gets what they need, whether that's support and structure during homework time, ensuring their sports gear is ready for practices and games, or simply understanding when they need a little space or encouragement.
You are also comfortable collaborating with the family and taking input on what's most important each day. You're adaptable and can shift your focus based on the family's needs, whether it's a last-minute change in plans or prioritizing specific tasks. This balance of initiative and flexibility is key to thriving in this role.
You have an authentic enthusiasm for supporting busy parents in creating a positive and welcoming home environment and you find joy in being an additional set of hands to make things run smoothly. You truly take pride in assisting and supporting the family across a wide array of areas and can take initiative to problem solve on your own.
